Skinnie motives?

Well, the main book hints at Control Bugs controlling the Skinny Raiders but there hasn't been any "real" clues as to wheter such thing is correct...Does anyone else have clue's? Idea's? Mayb the Skinnie Armybook helps out?

The Skinnie Army Book goes into some detail on their social and political structure, or lack thereof.

It is of limited use with the new game out in 4 months though.

thats their alienes, nobody understands their motivation ? treat the game as a pycological exsperiement on the players and see what they come up with in reaction to whats going on.

Myself, I was a little dismayed by the very...I shall say, very lean nature of the background and motivation information in the Skinnie army book, as opposed to what's been printed about the UCF and the Arachnids.

But I remain optimistic that this will be expanded in future productions, be they SST: Evo or perhaps even new RPG books. We can but hope!

The Arachnid army book details the conquest of Tophet (the Skinnie homeworld) by the bugs - the Control Bugs were bred for the sole purpose of turning Skinnie against Skinnie, and later proved to be effective against other races.

Also, the Tophet Campaign of the CGI might clear some things up.

(Mr. Evil -> Great avatar and even better movie  Sorry, I couldn't stop myself)

I think that the RPG Skinnies are still the Skinnies controlled by the Arachnids, mostly because of the small hints (like the "Small lacerations" on the necks of salvaged Skinnie cadavers). Another thing saying that scientists think that something detached from the back of their necks upon death of the Skinnie...Sounds much like Skinnies under control of Bugs, doing forward Raids (with their technology) and get "specimens" for the Bugs to examine (Brainbugs anyone?):P

The Skinnies presented in the RPG book are the original ones and I suspect that they were probably controlled by the Arachnids. The various different unit types presented in the Skinnie army book were encountered once the Federation started to encounter more Skinnie worlds and realized that there was much more to the Skinnie equation then just some raiders and a homegrown militia.

As for the Skinnie motives, I think that it depends on which clan you are talking about. Their society is incredibly diverse, with many leaders and just as many motivations. Some are willing to work with the Federation. Others hate them. Some are simply trying to build their own power, while others are trying to re-unite the fragmented Skinnie society. The current age of the Skinnie is described as the Time of the Headless Tribe, so you can really take any direction that you want with them.

I don't know if they are different settings but they are different times. The RPG information is from the beginning of the Road to Victory, while the wargame information with the Skinnies is set after the Klendathu Campaign.
