Skeleton = No command bonus?

Since this came up yesterday in a game - does a ship knocked to Skeleton crew, but still with an operational flight computer, lose its command bonus and other abilities? Or not until the flight computer dies?

Well, you don't lose traits when you hit skeleton crew, and command is a trait, so I would guess you don't lose command.

The only time you lose traits is when you are crippled.

So long as you still have the FLight Computer Trait, a ship will ignore all effects of Skeleton crew, though it does count as Skeleton Crew when calculating VP.

Command says in its rules very specifically: You gain that x bonus to your fleets initiative AS LONG AS THE SHIP IS NOT CRIPPLED OR SKELETON CREWED. It IS a trait but you lose it automatically as soon as you reach a threshold (however as LBH notes if you have a flight computer you dont actually COUNT as skeleton crewed so dont lose its ability)

You do still count as skeleton crewed even if you have a flight computer eg. for VP purposes, and you lose 1 CQ in campaign games. You just don't suffer the effects of it during play. As to which takes priority: flight computer ignores all effects of being skeletoned, or command is lost when skeletoned, I don't know...

It is a flight computer, not a fleet computer. It can still control the ship, but I do not see it being able to effectively command the fleet.

Surely what it does is allow the remaining crew to keep doing their normal duties, rather than having to man multiple posts to keep the ship going - so the commander can still command.
