A friend of mine has recently started A Traveller Campaign and the problem is that 1 of her Pcs ended up A Noble with A Portfolio good enough for The Pc in question to sell it for enough to own A 200 ton Far Trader from the start, have no mortgage on it and still have Cr 7,759,500 in cash and her players are trying to persuade her do let them do it. So do you think that she should let them do it?

Why would someone sell off all their assets, some of which would likely be hereditary, to buy a very common (in the sense of not noble type) starship to share with some randoms? Would they be permitted to liquidate these assets? Would they be able to? Would they retain noble status, having decided to abandon the lifestyle and duties of the rank in order to fly around in a spaceship?
It is very unlikely someone would do this, and equally unlikely they would be able to. If you really want to generate a noble character you need to play them as a noble, not as the access point to a portfolio.
