'Originally designed as a raider for the Navy, it went over budget and was subequently cancelled. However around 20 ships had been built, which subsequently were sold.
The original design has military grade countermeasures, which were stripped out, along with the armaments. Some of the vessels ended up as privateers under corporate sponsership and at least 2 vessels have ended up in corsair's hands.'

I'm thinking that the hull could benefit from the advanced rules concerning high tech rules. That 10 structure + hull could go to 14...for a price.

Bill: you sure about that? Given the role and who'll mostly be flying it, it might benefit from having the ability to be able to be patched up without needing imported parts in a wider range of ports? Being able to land on a backwater TL11 planet and get the ship spaceworthy after having a run-in with the Imperial Navy might be a good idea - better than needing to import TL14 plates from somewhere. Knowing that they just took a beating, the Navy might well be keeping an eye open for just such a requirement in an off-the-beaten-track landing site...

It's hard to explain why a remote TL11 agricultural community needs 20 tons of TL14 hull plating imported from off-planet or drawn from already-imported stock... much easier if that same community can just buy some from a half-dozen local (on a planetary scale) suppliers (the community supply shuttle needs replating). It'd only be if they got a hold of all the purchase orders that they'd notice the unusual size of the order...

Just a thought - this might be one time that high TL (for most systems) is a poor design choice.

Of course, there's also the matter of cost... pirates might not be able to afford the extra expense of high-tech systems and plating - they might need to save their money for the more essential "toys" and keep the rest as cheap as possible (not only to buy, but also to maintain).

Middenface: nice designs both... if you don't mind, I'll be keeping both on file... :)
