Shamanic Magic

Mongoose
The Basic book in page 62 briefly introduces Shamanic Magic. It seems it should be described in detail in the Companion book. But it's not there.

Is it described in any other manual already published?

:?
I'm interested in MRQ, but have never been interested in Glorantha.

Definetily I would have seen the system rules published in a different way.

Thank you for your answer ;-)

I would like to be in love with Mongoose RuneQuest, but it's so slippery.

It makes sense to have Shamanic Magic as OGL and Runic Magic as gloranthan Magic. The other way... what do I do with gloranthan runes magic in an X century Europe campaign? My vikings are very confused

The runequest shamanic magic isn't all that similar to real shamanism. If you described real shamanism in some form using runequest mechanics I don't think you would be treading on any toes. In my opinion.

The runes described in vanilla runequest aren't very gloranthan at least as we previously understood Glorantha. I do use them but they are much, much rarer and therefore rune magic is much much rarer.

Actually, they were. At least in Norway the worship of divine gods was combined with shamanic practices.

I must say I know almost nothing about Glorantha ;-)

The way Wotann's vision of the runes is described in the Eddas seems to be very shamanistic. And vikings believed in spirits everywhere living in stones, trees, etc. Even they thought bad crops and animal diseases were the acts from angry spirits living at the farms.
