Setting Questions

I just recieved in the mail yesterday my copy of the Runequest Core Book and I stayed up very late reading it - I was very impressed. As a fan of the Keep It Simple Stupid roleplaying rules systems - I found this to be both refreshing and rewarding.

I have on order Lankhmar and I am anxiously await the day I recieve that book (another sleepless night I'll bet).

What I want to know is that since Runequest seems to very versitile - what other settings and or products are coming down the pike? I, and I hesitate to say this, am not a huge fan of the Glorantha setting - just does not turn me on - so other settings are cool. I avoided Runequest till I saw that MGP was doing Lankhmar and then that sold me.

Does anyone know what other settings are planned if any? I am bummed that Green Roinin got both Thieves's World AND The Black Company settings (note - I own both they are great!!!! I just wish they were not D20 - though in thier defense as far as D20 goes - they are very well done).

Any chance Conan will go Runequest?

Thanks

Upcomming supplements that are all pretty certain are:

Moorcock's Eternal Champion (at least Elric and Hawkmoon settings)
Slaine
Pirates
Oriental/Ninja

Then there will be SpaceQuest for Sci-Fi/Modern rules, and settings for that.

They had a Conan book for RQ almost finished, but their license did not allow using it for 2 different games, so they shelved it. Hopefully they will be able to get the licensing sorted out. They have said the have no intention of discontinuing or replacing d20 Conan - they were just going to produce some supplements for RQ.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention our third party publishers.

There is a link on the MRQ Wiki to third party products here.

There is a lot of other good info at the MRQ Wiki, known affectionately as Mr. Qwiki.

There is also a shared world with good support at gwenthia.org. It mentions right off the bat it is in the spirit of Glorantha, Jorune, and Tekumel, so it may not be your cup of tea if you are looking for more 'straight' fantasy - but hey, the price is right.

Thanks for mentioning Gwenthia, Rurik - I was about to do that!

Sceaptune games have a neat non-Gloranthan line that's MRQ compatible too.

I have Sceaptune's Exile and it looks good from what I've skimmed- though I honestly haven't had a chance to read it yet. It is a mixed setting and scenario supplement, which is an awesome format imho. Reusable setting material and jump in gaming - much like the early 80's RQ classics.

The Otherworld Creations Diomin is a setting that was developed for d20 first, so it is seems to be pretty well developed. It has a few RQ specific scenarios and I believe they are also converting some of their existing d20 stuff to RQ as well.

Well, you can always dig up the old Chaosium Thieves World boxed set on e-bay or somewhere....

The new Thieves World from Green Ronin looks very good - I have been tempted to check it out even though it is d20. Lynn Abbey seems very involved with the project.

Hi, first post so hello everyone, anyway, just wondering if there was anymore news on this setting ...

Oriental/Ninja

and also are these new setting just rules and flavour, if so will there be any published campaign/adventure books for MRQ various settings?

Most all we have of the Ninja setting is from this post here. Scroll down to the section on RQ. Note that Aaron Dembski-Bowden was the writer for the oriental stuff and he has left Mongoose, but it should still be upcoming.

As far as scenarios go there is one in the Nehwon book and Swords against Sorcery, a stand alone adventure that ties into the one in Nehwon. Both of those products should be out once the new printing press is up and running.

There is a three part campaign for Glorantha called Blood of Orlanth that will be coming out over the next few months as well.

Plus there have been a number of scenarios released in Signs and Portents, the free PDF mag that Mongoose puts out monthly.

Both 'RQ Samurai' and 'Blood of Orlanth' are now on my radar. 'Samurai' is a fair way off though.

Was 'Blood of Orlanth' actually DBC's baby, Loz? Are you working from his notes, or what?

And RQ Samurai...ooh! :)

I just want to add I am glad you are referring to it as "Samurai" rather than "Ninja".

Also forgot to welcome ZenDog to the board.

Welcome to the board ZenDog.

(watch out for Quire though - he has an 'evil twin')

Yes, I have some of DBC's notes and need to pick his brains for more. Just been too busy to do so recently. I don't know how Blood of Orlanth will pan-out yet, but I'm looking forward to the work.
