Scoundrels: Ship Equipment Question

SSWarlock

Mongoose
Scoundrels provides details on a chemical rocket based, high-burn thruster which gives a temporary speed boost over and above the acceleration of the ship's normal maneuver drive.

My question is..do the ship's inertial compensators dampen the acceleration effects from these rocket boosters or is the crew subjected to the full effects for the duration of the boost?

That is up to you. The rules are unclear about this issue.

Personally, I figure the 6G limit is based on Inertial Damper limits, so I would say that NO it doesn't provide compensation over 6gs.

We can achieve more than 6Gs of acceleration right now (TL7), so there must be some reason why large ships can only achieve 6Gs with a gravitic maneuver drive.

maneuverability.

The faster you go, the harder it is to change direction.

The faster you accelerate, the longer it takes to decelerate down to a maneuverable velocity.

Even with gravitic drives, these ain't no fighter planes dodging around in atmo.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I was leaning to "no" as well but wanted to see if anyone at Mongoose would state what the intent was.

I agree with Mongoose Gar..it does seem from the item description that the intent is as emergency thrust over and above original design specs.

I hate to think of someone being desperate enough to pull up to 6 uncompensated Gs for a solid hour.
