S&N Slaine a wager lost

Just downloaded S&N 48. The adventure looks good. Can't wait to see more of Baileoisin in January.

I've just finished reading it. Reminds me of Raven Loft ( Travelling in Mist.)

Good to hear that a old Slaine character had been mentioned Myrrdin. I do hope his stats have been recorded in one of the new books.

Toothill,
Is Baileoisin in the main RQ Slaine book or will we have to wait till the campaign is printed for more details?

the RQ book has a starter campain idea about a cattle raid this is set in the same place and feeds into as i understand it the campain so looking forward to the campain lots and lots 8)

Is there any detail on Baileoisin in the main book? Description, map, anything or is it just mentioned as per the adventure in S&P???

Baileoisin is not detailed in the main book - that will be in the Baileoisin Chronicles, along with the additional adventures.

The adventure in the book and the one in S&P are specifically designed so that they do not HAVE to be set in the village.

but can they be used to warm the group up before the main collection of adventures :?
Yes.

Mind you it is possible that the party have managed to get themselves killed by then...

Both the adventures are designed so they can be used pretty much anywhere and can slot in at the start of the campaign (or even a little later on, if desired).

Just a question about the Time-Monster section of the 'Wager's Lost' section of the adventure. I'm just guessing that the 'Utah-Rapter's' are from Utah in America. ( I deducted this from the name.)

Would I be right in guessingf that the 'Glamour Path' gates adventurers to places all over the world and beyond when used this way.

Utahraptors were discovered in America (well Utah...), the Drunes caused the appearance of Time Monsters dragged through space and time, so the fact that the Utahraptor (these are the creatures actually in Jurassic Park, by the way, real Veloceraptors are piddley little things that would get creamed by a group of warriors) was in the sourlands is no big deal. As the world was pretty much a single land mass when the dinosaurs diod roam the world it is quite possible that they would have been found in what is now Europe as well - just with no fossil remains to prove this.

Glamour Path technically has the ability to transport an individual accross vast distances BUT this would be extremely unlikely to happen. It is also why the spell is very limited as to who might receive it (those who know the spell are very careful when teaching it to others to ensure it does not get misuseed). Since the caster must know where he is going/sending the party to, the Americas would definitely be an unlikely destination!

For the record Aonach Ban is actually in modern Scotland, the Utahraptor is in the sourlands just north of the lands of the Drune Lords, the witch is on the border with the Fir Bolg, the hares well inside Falian territory.

I know about the Pangea theory.

Despite your claims, I think the name Utah-Rapter just sounds little too western or Modern for this sunject.

Perhaps, Euro-Rapter would be a alternative.

It's probably right that the Druid or Drunes may have learned/developed the CORRECT names for these monsters. However, giveing them such a western sounding name still doesn't make sence to me.

I know :Latin not be the best example, but when I typed in the word 'Running
-Thief' here, I got 'Cursor-Rapter'' which I think sounds cooler. Though it may be just as wrong to give it that name also.

I think would betterr if the Drunes had come up with other names for these beasts. Though , the fact that it's Utah-Rapter should be pointed out in the explantion, but not in the game.

drunes masters search for pockects of pain and misery through time and space maybe it is them who named the dinosaur utah

I went with Utahraptor as the correct name for a GM to be able to reference. The Celts, alas, do not have the proper Dinosaur name I can use... :(

As far as players go I use the generic Time Monster for their characters and use Utahraptor to the players to describe it. I never say anything like - 'You start poking around in the nest and turn around just as a Utahraptor leaps at you, its claws flailing' - when describing what the characters see. I would use Time Monster there and then explain to the players exactly what they can see in more modern terms, if they should want more details.

Veloceraptor has the far cooler name, I give the species that.
