Running Legend on RPOL (roleplay online)

I'm thinking of running a sort of Sandbox RPG on rpol.net, which is an online play by post forum type site.

Anyway, I want to use the Legend rules for a Sandbox campaign where the characters will explore, clear and if necessary conquer one hex at a time.

As it's all by forum post I won't be using the full blown combat rules and everything.
Actually it's mainly the character gen I'll be using and a lot of the rest will be abstracted somehow.

Has anyone done this sort of thing before? Meaning dramatically simplifying the rules for play by forum post?

Any tips or ideas appreciated.

I have run a legend game on the site, and it is better to streamline the combat somehow, after playing a few combats with the full rules, it will just take too long. The rest of the system you can use as is. Simple maps can also really help in a PbP when combat occurs, i have found that confusion can too easily occur with out the maps, even with the most detailed description.

Yeah there's no way I'm using the full blown combat.
I was think of breaking it down to really simple Roll % to hit and parry without combat maneuvers or stuff like that.
Also break down combat actions as well so everyone gets a move and action and that's it.

Regarding skills in general, have break points where you don;t need to roll for stuff if you have a certain % in something.

For instance if you have 25% in something then for easy type stuff, no roll required.
For 50%, average stuff doesn't need to roll for.
80% higher harder stuff that's unopposed does that's time critical won't require a roll etc etc..

Those sorts of things to reduce or remove the need to stop the game to wait for people to roll.

The actual character gen will remain more or less the same as it's all done once only and will flesh out teh character well, which Legend's strength.

I read ur Rpol page.
I liked the posting guidelines, although personally I'd prefer the players to roll their own dice.

Is it OK if I steal you character generation thread text (mostly)?
I would like to use it for an up coming PbP game I want to run and seeing as you've typed it up already, it'd save me work if I could just nick your text.

For most things they DO roll their own stuff - they either work it out themselves or I tell them what to roll. But sometimes with PBF games it is quicker for the GM to do it for the player, especially during some fight scenes.

Please feel free to copy any of that char gen text that you'd like.
