Redundance of critics

I would have a confirmation. When you suffer twice the same critic on a ship, you don't cumulate speed loss (two -1 is not one -2). But I suppose you don't cumulate too all those -1AD?
And if a critic asks you to remove a special characteristic, you lose one each time you suffer it. Right?

Every critical you suffer is independent of any other (except the -1AD criticals that are cumulative as stated below the table). This means if you suffer a -4 speed and a -2 speed crit then you will be at -4 speed until you repair it, then you will still have the -2 speed crit in play.

Yes you lose a different trait each time.

Can you lose the same trait more than once, same thing for firing arcs, forcing you to repair it multiple times?

I've wondered that since 1e. Never got a straight answer...

Eg. Nova loses an arc. Roll a D4, get a 1, lose the front arc. Loses another arc... do you roll another D4 and lose the front arc twice, or roll a D3 for the remaining arcs?

We always played the latter but I can't really find any good reason for it.

we tend to play you can take damage to arcs/traits more than once so that it needs multiple repairs to get working.
same as with engine ones really. if a ship already has -2 speed and you roll that again you dont reroll, it just has 2 of them to repair.

Just a quick related query, if you've taken several -1 AD crits as they are cumulative do you only have to make 1 repair roll to remove them all or do you need to make a roll for each AD you are down?

yup... getting -AD'd to death is a bad way to go because it takes so long to repair, especially if your SA's are blocked in some way (crit's, psi corp meddling, abbai hogging all the phone lines to gossip...)

tracking individual crits and all associated affects has become a recent bug of mine. A lot of locals were tracking effects but not crits, so repairs were not being done right. Big deal now that a number of crits have multiple not easily related effects.
