Random adventure/incident table?

Banded Mongoose
Just wondering - while its part of the Traveller Gamemasters book coming from Mongoose, are there any existing products which have tables of randomised incidents, adventures and events which would occur to traveller PC's as they travel from planet to planet?

I dont have much time for planning, so I'm basically plopping down a sector map of District 268, giving them a ship and a cargo and let them choose where they want to go. When they go there, I just want to roll on a table for an adventure and improvise from there.

Thx.

well... there is the random encounter table in the core book, stuff like "you meet a pirate", or " space debris collision". Merchant prince has the trade route encounter, like "false distress beacon" or "you meet a pirate"... I think scoundrel might have something too but I'm not sure...

Have a look on Drivethroughrpg - there are quite a few cheap D66 "books" of incidents. I remember "D66 reasons the sensors have stopped working" which covered everything from sabotage to pirate jamming to 'wierd swirly thing alert'.

The Core Rule Book has everything you need - random people/animal and ship encounters you will probably just need to do an animal encounter chart for a couple of different types of terrains, perhaps create a couple of patrons and planet maps etc so you are prepared.

Unless you have a fantastic imagination you will find that having all these things prepared beforehand helps enormously. The players wont know they are generic if you add plenty of atmospheric description when the encounter happens - having a quick 1/2 sentence description for patrons/characters will help prompt you with details. When I generate characters I usually write a short description - for example if the character is a weak thief I might write 'he is a short small shifty weasely-type person who hangs around in the shadows and tends to go unnoticed most of the time'. Similarly for animals and planned encounters. Similarly for planets and even subsectors - I wrote a short description of each to help me with the atmospheric details.
