Quickstary Rules?

One thing I'd find as very useful in demoing Traveller to new players (who are new to Traveller but not to RPGs in general) are quickstart rules - a short document, say 10-15 pages long, with basic rules, available for free PDF download. It doesn't need to have character/world/ship generation rules, but should cover the cooler sides of the game (skills, combat, maybe also ship combat). Games such as Savage Worlds or Shadowrun have such things - these are very good ways to let new players test-drive the rules and thus get a taste for them, before buying the full thing (and hopefully get hooked by the quickstart and thus go and buy a lot of MGT book). Add a short starter adventure and let people test it...

This is something I'd like to see from Mongoose.
 
Every now and then there is the Free RPG day at various game shops in the US. On a Saturday, a table is covered in various thin quickstart booklets being given away. This should be a great way to introduce Traveller to the gaming public and get people to notice those book on the shelf nearby.
