Question regarding "The Slayer's Guide to Scorpionfolk&

In "The Slayer's Guide to Scorpionfolk", the sample Scorpionfolk all have a normal Feat progression, as defined in the Rules: A 12 HD Scorpionfolk (refered as an Untrained Young) has 5 feats: Alertness, Cleave, Multi-Attack, Power Attack, Weapon Focus (Sting)

Yet, I am finding that there is a different Feat progression for Scorpionfolk, as stated here :
Feats: A scorpionfolk receives one feat at 1st level, 7th level, 11th level, and 15th level. After 15th level it gains feats normally according to its character level.

When I examine the Scorpionfolk defined in the Monster Manual II, it lists a 12 HD Scorpionfolk, with these feats: Alertness, Multiattack, Power Attack

So the MM2 seems to be using the 'alternate' feat progression as defined for Scorpionfolk (and quoted above!!)

The question is: Which is the correct feat progression to use?

Thanks!

I submitted this question to Wizards, to have their input - They confirm that the Scorpionfolk uses the feat progression I outlined (so a 12HD Scorpionfolk would have 3 feats)

This means that the Slayer's guide (as is) is using an 'alternate' form of Scorpionfolk, not the official version from WotC.

Here is the correspondance

Cheers!

Greetings Wizards!

The Scorpionfolk listed in the Monster Manual II has 3 feats (Alertness, Multiattack, Power Attack), even though, for a 12 HD monster, it should have 5 Feats...

Is this intended? Is this an error?

Thanks for clearing that up!!

Richard,

Thank you for writing. Occasionally monsters created for our products may differ slightly from the standard creature creation rules. This can facilitate more unique and diverse choices for the Dungeon Master to have at his disposal. This particular creature would fall under that category. Feel free to use the creature's listed statistics as intended or you may alter them for your game if you feel it would be more appropriate. In the end it is up to your Dungeon Master's discretion. I apologize for the confusion.
