Question on Reputation

The Warlord

Mongoose
Vincent.

Say for example, the PCs are Rep 5 in the Westermarck, then thier rep goes up to 10 in the Barachan Isles, finally their rep is 15 in Shem. Now, their character sheet says 15, but what is it actually in Shem? I know there's modifiers from where they first got their rep, but they got rep in a variety of places. Am I needlessly confused?

Thanks!

Imho a GM should handle this by his own judgement on a case to case basis: if their REPutaion generating adventures have only regional importance (erasing a notorious crime boss in a Shemitish city state) no one in Messantia will bother. If they do some heroic (or vile 8) ) deeds in the Barachan Isles during a their pirate career there's a good chance their fame will spread in the maritime city of Messantia, too.

Hope, this helps...

In Shem, their Reputation reverts to Cha bonus + level for making Reputation checks. Since Reputation does not come into play until someone has heard of them, I don't worry about keeping strict track of the modifiers each and every time they move. Just keep track of the overall score and modify when needed. Once a character has been in an area for a month, his reputation moves up to the overall score.
