Question about the flash on Hazat Xerxes and Scorpion ships

So, I dived in. Two starters of Hazat, plus the dread and the cruiser, as well as a blister of Harpies to nearly fill my two carriers.

Now the real problem. Where in the world do the guns start and the flash end on the Xerxes and Scorpion? I am looking real close at every picture I can get my hands on, but I am still not quite sure. Looking at the stock photos on Mongoose's site, it appears that only the "bubble" was left on the side of the Xerxes, with the "stem," which I assumed was part of the gun, completely removed. On the Scorpion, I can tell only very little, although it appears that the gun "stem" has been left intact, as it can just barely be seen.

Any advice or help on this would be greatly appreciated!

This is actually very tricky.

But the gun stem ends where it starts to taper slightly. Once you've found it on one, as they are all the same length the correct point to cut becomes clear quite quickly.

In fairness, if you like how it looks, keep it, if it looks wrong, chop it off. Flash or not.

I had to carve half the back wing off one of my Hazat Galliots because it didn't form correctly, but it helps me tell the 2 apart.
