Question about Special Actions and Criticals

If a ship is using a SA that goes into effect at the end of the turn (such as All hands on Deck) and it suffers a speed 0, no SA critical is all the effects of the SA lost immediatly? For example, would the All Hands on Deck SA lose the chance to repair all of its criticals, plus lose the +1 bonus for repairs?

Yes it would, any damage that disables criticals prevents all beneficial and detrimental aspects of the special action.

Our favorite critical to use for this action is Concentrate all Fire.

If your opponent gets a no SA critical on it then you lose all benefits of the rerolls, however you can also then fire all your other weapons at different targets, if you choose.

It's my understanding that you suffer the penalties of attempting an SA regardless of whether you gain the benefit or not (either through a failed CQC or skeleton crewed or critical).

Of course for those paying attention to my recent posts - you may notice that I'm questioning a lot of what I've taken for granted the last couple days.

No, that is not true, unless the description of the SA says otherwise.

I guess there are some SAs which cannot be effectively negated by no-SA crits (like all stop! - you've already used it by the time you're hit, and the ship doesn't suddenly lurch forwards).
