Question about Mini-beams

In the Revised rulebook it states that mini-beams within 4" are anti-fighter against flights of fighters. So have they been updated since then or does that rule still stand? Im just curious if Mini-beams work against capital ships with a dodge.

Thanks

ah, well that is where im confused then. In the revised rules book one it says that they are anti-fighter versus flights of fighters. So is this an exception to the rule then?

No. You are correct that is how it reads. I never spotted that before, I guess I just read it as straight anti-fighter.

Erm are you sure SQ? Ive got the basica ACTA 1.0 book and mine says mini beams are are anti fighter against fighters at 4". In fact I I've looked at every different version of the rulebook as its come out and never has it said anything but 4" for minibeams. Sure your not thinking of Emine blast radius or something?

I had not actually noticed that bit about 'when targeting fighters' though. So mini beams DONT work anti fighter vs ships with dodge....

Hmm...never read that bit about only fighters before either...must have just "glossed" over it and assumed just a general "Anti-fighter" trait. Interesting then!

if a ship has dodge the ship that fires has "Anti figter" the dodge is dropped

ie A Shadow Scout Vs a White Star

Shadow fires and hits

White Star Cant dodge

so does that also mean that weapons with the "anti-fighter" trait also dont work against capital ships?

No the only discrepancy is mini beams which say 'when targeting flights within 4" '

Sorry but theire stands MAY also counted as Anti-Fitghter weapons.
There stands not that they ARE Anti-Fighter.

Yeah more than likely but as its writen it states that Mini beams may be counted as anti fighter when firing AGAINST FIGHTER FLIGHTS WITHIN 4". When firing against SHIPS within 4" this doesnt aply.

Weapons that are ACTUALLY antifighter do, however as SQ noted, ignore the dodge trait regardless of what they shoot at.

Hmm, I'd need to check the wording when I get home (unless someone can quote it word-for-word) but if it says "...gains the Anti-Fighter trait against fighters within 4"" then it could be argued that it applies to all ships and aux craft (except maybe the Explorer!) since they are all fighting ships and therefore fighters, even if they are not Fighters (capitalized Fighters being shorthand for "auxillary craft with the Fighter trait").

In Book One of the Rule book it states; "When Targeting Flights within 4", mini beam weapons may also be counted as Anti-Fighter weapons"

OK thanks... flights would include breaching pods then, but it seems White Stars, Drakh Raiders etc are indeed immune ;)
