Question about metal bases.

Mongoose
Hi,
I'm putting together a EA fleet at the moment and I was thinking about getting the metal bases from mongoose for them.

Just wondering what you thought of them?

Are they worth the extra cost/effort?

thanks

Gazza

Yes, for big ships they are worth it, saves pinning. For small ships, not so much.

If you are in the UK, Dancing Dryad carry them (and don't charge the arm and a leg Mongosse do for postage).

It's worth replacing the shafts on smaller models with metal rods even if you're only planning on getting metal stands for the larger ships. Or use large bases for everything (allows you to place fighter escorts easier and makes the models much more stable).

Yeah, the metal bases are great. Got some with my Drakh Light Cruisers. Vastly superior to the plastic bases.
However, a warning...
DO NOT ORDER THEM FROM MONGOOSE.
A couple guys in my gaming group ordered them back at the start of October, as soon as they went on sale, and we still haven't recieved anything. We got an email a couple of weeks ago saying that they haven't forgotten about us, but that's 2 months now, give or take, and we've got bugger all for our money.

It's the friggin Drakh Motherships all over again.

If anyone could shed some light as to why I haven't received my metal bases yet, I'd be eternally grateful - they were ordered on the 12th of December, and the order number is 5713755.

I am learning a lesson. Don't order from Mongoose.
they shaft you on postage, they never stock their own models, and I think players are designing nicer looking ships!

But as for metal bases, hell, the Stems are all I need, even my Chronos's have snapped stems, and they weigh nothing.

How did you manage that, its only the 4th of December?

Unless you ordered them last year!

Before they were released...

Now I'm confused...
