Previews Galore!

Hi guys,

We have just uploaded previews of the Player's Guide to Glorantha, the Uz, and Swords Against Sorcery - you can find them all in the RuneQuest section of the site.

I like that the tribes of Prax are eventually given some recognition.

96-pages black&white, that's a bit of a disappointment though, with all the other Gloranthan books being in colour. Player's Guide is also black&white.

Boo.

All the Gloranthan books to date have been color. I wonder why these are not.

With color printing these 96 page books are among the most expensive on the market. It seems unfair to charge the same amount for 96 pages of b&w.

I actually prefer black and white illustrations (not maps) as they are easier on the eye. My eye, anyway.

Very nice. But ....

Swords Against Sorcery has a young lady in shackles who clearly should not be in a bikini .......

Guide to Uz:
What happens when the fuse on the Troll warrior's head burns out? Does his head explode? Is he an UzMostali hybrid?

And what's this about trolls living in Balazar (wherever that might be)? (grinding axes again)

Players Guide to Glorantha:
Wahey! The UzUz Maul does 5D8 damage! That's one for my Mistress Race Death Lord/Arkati Magus/Aranea Shaman to use. Hang on, it's an Axe - AN AXE??? Fine, for my Death Lord, as he stole it from Yelorna.

I like the fact that Minotaurs get a War Shoe, just in case they are fighting little things like ducks that they can't skewer on their horns. Giants should get these as well.

The Bison Rider is a bit too Red Indian/Native American for my tastes, I like them looking similar but with a bit of a twist to them. But, nice picture all the same.

And what's this about surrender? OK if you're the one doing the surrendering of course, in which we call cry "RANSOM" at the top of our voices. But, I ask you, half of the fun is watching them beg for their lives then splitting them on a stake. Or is that just me?

So, they look pretty good and I can't wait to get them. Doesn't mean we can't pick holes in them right from the start, though

Ever see the advert where the bloke plugs in the illuminations for his house at Christmas, the house lights up like a christmas tree and his dad says "Well, that bulb's gone ..."? Well, that's us, that is.

I notice that the sable riders aren't mentioned, though. Were they a minor tribe in the second age?

They're probably in a non-preview page. The Morokanth and Impala Riders aren't mentioned either and they're pretty big as well.

Well, Impala Riders aren't that big, but you see what I mean.

Also, the Uzuz Maul is treated like and axe because of the numerous blades all over it...wait til you guys see the picture. Heh heh...luckily there are not many of those things running around.

If you think the war shoes are cool, wait until you get to take a look at the rules for the Jrustelan rapier...nasty it is...pure nastiness.

The Impala riders are certainly mentioned in the preview. Looks like you're right about the Sables, though, judging by Mongoose Steele's post.

To what are you referring? The fact that it uses the Axe skill or its monumental damage?

If it is the former, I already noted about that earlier. If it is the latter, perhaps you should wait to pass judgment until you see the narrative on them (like the fact that only four of them made it out of Wonderhome), including the negatives involved with trying to use a magical ENC 10 item.

Just trying to calm fears before web-silliness gets out of hand on this one,
too.

To be fair thats 2H Axe Skill, not neccesarily and Axe per se. Knowing Trolls probably a REALLY BIG bit of 2 by 4 with a few nails hammered through!

It's the obvious choice for any Great Troll or strong Dark Troll. Or big human with a strenght spell.

Unless it's a highly magical weapon with the damage coming from magical enchantments and spells smithed into it during it's creation deep in hell, smithed by the trollmaster who chained Lodril himself, lots of POW sacrificed, etc.

Yeah, but to be fair, first you gotta carve your way through pretty much the Troll Clan and remove it from the "cold dead hands" of the nice lady Mistress Troll and her many magical minions. If your PC can do that, they've earned it!!! :twisted:
