Power Classes: Heroes of Fantasy and the D&D PHB.

I just bought the Heroes of Fantasy accessory on Friday and I would like to know should I replace any of the standard classes from the Wizards of the Coast PHB with classes from Heroes of Fantasy?

I find that the classes, and books, from Mongoose Publishing are much more roleplay oriented than the books from WotC. I own many of the Quintessential guides from Mongoose Publishing and they are superior IMO to the WotC splatbooks.

Its all a matter of what feel the GM wants, and what the players are willing to use.

So if your the GM, ask if the players are willing to use those classes. But remember that the NPC's of any bought modules and settings are based on the core rules, and while the power classes are role play oriented, the core classes can outshine them...

But the power classes can make unique NPC's and if you put a bit of work into your setting then I think it would go great.

I have another question. There is a noble class in the Power Classes accessory. I was wondering should I replace the aristocrat NPC class with the Noble Class from the Power Classes accessory.

Wouldn't it be unbalanced to have the PCs playing the Noble class while the NPCs were pigeonholed into the Aristocrat class?

No more so than having NPCs being part of the Warrior class while the PCs get to be fighters. Nobodies who aren't going to go adventuring get to be Aristocrats; political machinators and movers and shakers go NOble.

Good point.

Right now I am running a campaign wherein an aristocrat has hired the PCs to do odd jobs for her. Occassionally though she herself gets into battles. Should I go with Aristocrat or Noble on this NPC?

If she's there just as your mouthpiece and plot dispenser, then you can probably leave her as an Aristocrat. If she's going to take a more active role in the game and be on a par with the PCs, then rebuild her as a noble I guess.

Well she does not really have THAT much of an active role. She is moreso just someone to drive the plot of the game than anything. So I guess I can just leave her as an Aristocrat NPC. Thanks for your assistance!
