Mongoose
I proposed to Matt a new CITIZENS OF THE IMPERIUM with NPC characters from all/most of the various Character Generations (Chargens) Mongoose TRAVELLER has i.e. Core Rules, Scouts, Scoundrels etc in a more simplified format than 10,001 CHARACTERS which does have useful NPC's but few for a fast and quick need. I envision more like the CAMPAIGN GUIDE Supplement 9 in style. Further in keeping with the old COTI I suggested adding some new Chargens and some of the widely scattered Chargens i.e. Belters and SIGNS & PORTENTS Chargen.

Character Example from S9:CG
Ship’s Doctor
STR 5 DEX 6 END 6 INT 7 EDU 7 SOC 7
Age 33 Career(s) Scientist (physician) 3
Skills Admin 0, Computers 1, Gun Combat 0, Medic 2, Science
(xenology) 2.
Equipment First aid kit, Hand computer, comm, laser pistol.

I foresee the number of NPC's from major professions 36 i.e, D66, minor professions either lumped with similar for D66 or separate d12. That however is very much up in the air at this time.

Matt feels there are plenty of published NPC's. No new ones are needed. Even if they are needed the Chargens should get their own separate book. (He may be very right on that from sheer size.)

So the purpose of the poll is to gauge the consumers needs.

Split the book. Chargen is fairly word intensive and NPC's should be more than just a string of UWP numbers :)

I would say no, for the most part, as most of the character generation has been handled in actual books.

Now Barbarian could be an interesting tome...

A book I would like would be one that had puddles of "typical" Citizens regardless of having chargen rules for them or not like:

Admin Assistant (Secretary for you oldsters)
Minor Executive
Fast Food Preparer
Police Officer
Politician (Mayor of a city, subordinate representatives (whatever you may call them) )
Farmer
Rancher
Transportation Specialist (Bus Driver)
Vehicle Salesperson
Customs Official
Stock Broker
General Salesperson/Cashier
Dock Worker (space or water)

Things like that, with variations based on TL and/or Law Level. If chargen is given, I think all that would be needed would be the changes needed to the Specialist, Ranks, and Mustering Out tables displayed for each specialty if a player wanted to play one. Also, most average Citizens would not have mustering out as they are not "retired" though you could give them partials (he he).
