What do you all think of the Players Guide to Glorantha cover? its kind of surreal.

About the art:

Well, it's kind of hard to say, it is pretty busy to tell much at the resolution it is shown at (even expanded).

I like it better than the Glorantha SA cover. It seems less 'generic fantasy'.

I find it best not to judge all of the MRQ line by its' covers.

It may not look as polished as a lot of the fantasy art these days but that is O.K. by me. I like the overall composition and feel. Most importantly, as a whole, it seems to fit the theme of Lankmar very well.

My problem with the Glorantha cover was never the technical execution, it was that it seemed the artist didn't have a feel for Glorantha , and if they did it didn't come through in that piece.

Thats what I suspect.


I can't make my mind up about the cover. One minute I hate it and the next minute I like its trippy-ness.

It is certainly unusual.

Actually, I'm more intersted in th contents. Iread the description, but it's a bit vague.

Well.......you should be able to make out a few ships in front of the gates........

Best bit of the cover is the Waertagi coming to the healing station (that is what it is, btw).....unfortunately he is on the back of the cover but is very typically Runequest (when you see him you will know what I mean). Sadly you will need to look a little closely as he is under the text.

The Player's Guide has all kinds of player options going on - and gives some good character creation rules for all sorts of races. The idea was to have a cover with Aldryami, trolls, mostali, etc on the cover where they are not all trying to mutilate one another in some sort of internecine combat. Hence the aid station.

It is the Clanking City.

It is certainly home to sinister believers in falsehood (depending on your point of view).......so you could well be correct....kind of.

To me it says "this is a pretty bad picture"

My fiancée, who is an artist herself, said "parhaps the artist had not read the books".

It's not that bad. The gloranta book cover is much worse. These covers should shout "glorantha"! but ufortunately they don't. I would prefer lower quality art, if it had more of the glorantha feel, but so far I haven't seen too much MRQ art except the glorantha aldryami picture which got that.

You didn't like the Magic of Glorantha art?

Man, I loved that stuff. Those artists are getting biggest hugs and kisses from me (or the email equivalent...) as soon as I paw through the whole book.
