One thing I note is that the adventure falls back on Classic Traveler view of technology where computers weighed tons instead of grams.
As mentioned in the run through the climb and altitude problems should be easily mitigated by re-breathers or various environment suits that should be available to the players. If they don't think of getting anything they should get a check against a relevant skill and if they succeed just tell them. Or just tell them.
And I just noted with amusement a statement about scouts "typing out a few notes". What, don't they have the equivalent of a Galaxy S4 with camera and audio recorder?
Maybe the planet itself doesn't have any geo scanning satellites due to its not being wealthy enough but then there should be mention of that when talking about the survey mission "Oh hab, we can't afford no reecon orbital wizzer. That would cost maybe 10,000cr and all I have is this 3,000cr. You want it or not?"
