Play by Post: Unsupervised Anarchy ?

Abstract: would like to run a play by post, preferably here, using the new rules. It is a game that is going to be open to any kind of character, any race or career. It is a combat oriented game, but there is also going to be a lot of character stuff going on as well.

The game is going to focus on characterization, but we are also going to try and see if we can effectively apply personal and vehicle combat situations in a play by post environment. We are also going to look objectively at the tractability of player dice rolling in same.

Restrictions:

Regardless of background, all characters must run afoul (guilty or otherwise) of Hiver Law in thier background, bad enough to go to prison. I will help anyone with details or suggestions as needed. Spies and rogues are always a good "in", but you could literally be anyone.

The Players are gong to be limited to a TL 6 world, with TL 6 vehicles and Gear. You can of course be from a higher tech place, but when it comes to be time to buy gear and a vehicle, TL 6 is going to be the limit.

The players are going to be limited to one world, unless they can escape. It is a prison world. The game is intended to have a lot of Car Wars flavor, as well as a touch of Road Warrior/Mad Max. The characters are stranded on the world at the start of the game, and buy equipment there. The starting amount will be enough to buy and configure a Car/Motorcycle and buy armor/weapons, etc. There will be many choices. And by configure, I mean cars with machine guns and smoke screens and Armor.

Explosives, such as Grenades, RAM grenades and the like are so rare on this world, that they are the second most sought after thing in the game after fuel. THey are hard to make on this planet, and general availability comes from long hidden secret stockpiles or very daring offworlders. Nitro-Trihexane is a lousy explosive, but a great fuel.

Psionics are restricted. A psionic would not be put in this prison.

Setting:
Time: Unknown.
Place: A Non-Aligned World known as "T-66". Sector unknown. Subsector Unknown.

T-66: X-8756T0-6 << RED ZONE >>

50 years ago, T-66 was a Hive Federation Habitation World for client species workers on the frontier of the Federation. The World was terraformed and developed for maximum sustainability and comfort, and a vast system of simple transportation roadways were put in place all over the surface. The Mineral Extraction operations were run very cost effectively and under a simple Council form of government, the people prospered.

Then, a great shift came in the market, and the Mineral was no longer at its peak value. The extraction companies began to waver in support of thier operations, and one by one the great mines began to close, putting millions out of work. Crime soared out of control. The citizens who once cruised the wheelways going to and from work or recreation now became bands of armed marauders, preying on each other for the few resources that remained. The government code had shifted from its benign peaceful council, to the Hive code Type T. Unsupervised Anarchy.

The Federation, already by this time taking considerable financial losses from T-66, quickly classified the world as a Red Zone, cancelled its Federation Charter, and withdrew all Embassies from its out of control population. On the last day of the Federation Navy's withdrawl, thousands of automated Air, Orbital, and System Defense Monitors were deployed in the system to ward off the curious and to prevent escape.

50 years later, The culture of T-66 has degenerated further into warring factions of vehicle drivers, all competing for stockpiles of arms and ammunition, food, and the most precious of all, the fuel called Nitro-Trihexane.

Some nests of the Federation are said to use T-66 as a prison world for malcontent outsiders and criminals... All news and data from T-66 is often found in the distant background in most news vids, and it is never good.

(I just got the book, so I could be ready to go by July.)
