Play-by-post/online gaming: Experiences?

I typically GM in my tabletop campaigns and would like the chance to play as a character in a campaign. Unfortunately, it's tough enough to get my gaming group together as it is and I don't want to hang up the GM hat on my current campaign.

I'm interested in play-by-post or some other online RPG, but it's completely new to me. Anyone care to share their experiences, good or bad? Any advice?

I'm running two play by email games that I've been really happy with. You have to be patient and not worry too much about delays between turns. It allows you to really think about the action and the description. I have one game where I might have 15 'turns' in a day, and another where I go weeks sometimes. You can get a more "Conan" feel on these solo games.

I am currently playing in two Conan play by post games and waiting for
the chance to do a 3rd.

My on-line game hosted here on this site is the very bestest on-line game ever! If you wish to join then there is a guide to creating a character there too. The next week or so would be a little difficult to add new characters as the p.c.'s are going to be a little paranoid for a while but after that...

And you could keep an eye on what's going on in the Conan and Mongoose world at the same time, what on earth could be better ?
