PDF files

Magistus

Mongoose
Ever thought about releasing PDF files before the printed version? I ask because it makes more sense release the PDF allow people to look through it and if we see any mistakes it will allow you time to correct the mistake before the printed version comes out.

There are a few companies that do it this way.

I also would like this and it also allows revenue to be achieved sooner as getting a PDF distributed is a lot easier than having to distribute books (especially to our friends over the pond).

Also, as a selfish note, I buy PDFs first and read them, and only once I have read the PDF do I buy the physical book - so a PDF first is better for me, and it is the reason I haven't bought RQ Deluxe adn Slaine yet as I am awaiting the PDFs.

BTW - pleease cna you also bookmark PDFs it makes life so much simpler. :)

Hi guys,

We have considered this in the past, but we feel it would undermine our partners in the retail stores.

In all honesty, I don't see how. I personally have bought both, if I like the PDF and think the content is worth having at the game table I have then gone out and bought the book. And I know of a few people that have done the same. Now with Mongoose I am waiting quite a while for you to release the PDF to purchase it, and then figure if I want the book.

Magistus and myself may not be the norm, but I too buy both PDF and hardcopy and don't buy the hardcopy until I have read the PDF.

Admittedly I might buy some PDFs and then find the book isn't to my tastes (I bought Glorantha in PDF and read it but found it wasn't my cup of tea) but if I don't have the PDF I won't buy it at all.

So in mine and Magistus' case delaying the PDF actually delays us buying hardcopy from the stores.

For me, the SRD sold me on RQ.

the Traveller SRD may sell me on "yet another edition"... but I was burned by TNE & T4 both trying to ruin my favorite game, so I'm not going to buy RTT until I see what is in the SRD.

I wholeheartedly support this request whenever I see it.

Linked ToC and Index too. Moreso the Index as the ToC entries are so broad.

Same here.

I just bought RQD after purchasing most of the PDF versions. I need my books mostly mobile so I always buy the PDF and if the content justifies it, a physical book later. I'm really interested in the 'newts book but I won't go for the hard copy until I get the PDF.

I'm holding out in hope that many of the Glorantha books (Glorantha, Ralios, Cults, and Magic) will be combined. It's too much of a pain to have to search through three or four books for information on the same subject.
