Painting Narn Ships

So I have sent away some Narn ships to be painted, but would like to supplement my fleet w/ out breaking the bank on painting...any simple suggestions on how to do the "tiger" stripe Narn ship patterns? Thanks

The simplest way is to draw them on with a black micron pen. No, its not paint, but it works and looks pretty good. Whats hard about it is the thin white stripe around the black. If you want something simple, paint the mini red, then go back and paint the pattern you want in white, then carefully fill in the black with a pen.

I do the basic red, with metail detailing and paint the stripes last. I paint the stripes in dark brown in random shapes, I'm not too bothered about being 100% straight and the angles being sharp. When I paint the outline, I neaten up the edges and sharpen the corners. I use a 000 brush and white paint.

i allways do the same as greg, all red first with silver details, black stipes but a cold grey for the outline, then a black wash over the silver details

A silver gel pen works for outlining the pattern. or gold if you fancy something different :-)

Wow. Red. I use an orange base coat, dulled down with a wash of Vallejo smoke. As for the stripes, I use brass for the basic shape, then fill in with black on a 10 ought brush. Takes a steady hand but it can be done.

i just tried the jell pen thing, tell ya what you gotta watch, DONT laquer them with a brush even when dry, it washes the pen all over the model. did try it underneath with a VERY light spray and that was ok, but i think ill still go back to paint with a small brush, ( or did i use the wrong type of gel pen)

You'd have to make sure they were the indelible variety. And even then leave them for at least a couple of days before painting. I used sharpies for my Drazi engine squiggles and Minbari stripes, and matt (acrylic) varnished them after a few days with little smearing (which actually looked better on the Minbari ships).

For Narn-style camo I'd paint the model white then use the red/orange paint to outline the stripes. Then paint the stripes black, leaving just a thin strip of white around the edges. I haven't painted any Narn myself, but the technique is the same as I've used for tigerstripe camo on other stuff.
