Painted/Based Panzerschiffe Pics

Finally got some pics of my fleet(s) taking shape.

Blatantly copied Oly's excellent job. Of course, his are still much, much better looking. . . but mine took less than 10 min from start to finish! (each that is! LOL!!)

Unfortunately, ran out of bases, so all the big cruisers and battleships although painted, are sitting baseless and lonely. Hopefully get some more bases in the next week or so. . . then place a big order to flesh out the rest of my fleets!

Damn Fine Work Soulmage. I am supremely jealous!!!

That does it. I'm switching to Panzerschiffe!!!!!!! I can't paint like Agis or OLY or you but I really liked painting up my Italian Fleet So fast So easy!

Once again Nice work Soul

awesome soulmage, thanks a million. im ow very confident with ordering from panzer....

please fill us in on the details for labeling the sides of the bases, that looks so sweet!

Lovely models, aren't they? Enaging "spotter" mode for a moment, your "Norfolk" looks more like a "Suffolk" or "Cumberland" (IIRC only these two ships had large hangars and a cut-down quarterdeck). The "Dorsetshire" model might be a better one to use for "Norfolk".

You caught me DM! You win the prize of. . . absolutely nothing! LOL!!

The Norfolk is in fact the Suffolk. Unfortunately, there are no stats for the Suffolk in the book because although it was involved in the hunt for the Bismarck, it took no part in the actual battle. (May have helped with the subsequent thinking).

But. . . I figured they were close enough that nobody would spot the difference. . . should have known better around here! LOL!!

If they ever come out w/ stats for the Suffolk/Cumberland, I'll just re-label it and get a new Norfolk.

The labels are simply 6 point names printed off and stuck on. Flags are just a picture of each flag snagged off the internet, and shrunk down to size. Fortunately, we have access to a high quality color laser printer at work! ;)

Oh and guys. . . my wife gets all the credit for painting, basing, labeling, etc.

I found the flags. . . . and told her what I wanted them to look like. . . and sprayed them w/ primer! LOL!!!

Hi Soulamge,

I still do not like the Panzerschiffe models, but the paintjob really enhances these ugly pieces of resin.
Honestly - great job, and again proof that painting is more important then the actual model...

Story of my life :)

Stats for Suffolk will be practically the same as Norfolk anyway - both were "County" Class cruisers, but the enlarged hangar meant that Suffolk and her sister Cumberland (which just missed the River Plate action) could carry three aircraft instead of two.

I'll be doing a piece on expanding the RN fleet lists in the next few months. The various versions of "County" will be covered.

Tell 'em Oldmantree sent ya! ;)

Soulmage, they look very good. For a bit of honest and positive criticism, maybe try to position the bow of the ship closer to the bow wave. Kagero looks very good with her wave. Other than that, very nice job (be sure to pass that on to who painted them, lol).

I think they look great, they've got a cleanness to them that I'm just not getting with mine. My minis look really quite rough if they're not washed but then muddier than I'm happy with once they are washed. What paints are you using?

I was thinking that myself and did mention it to my wife. We'll see if we can't do more of that in the next batch. Problem is she's painting the water effects onto the base before gluing the ship on so it was tough to get a centered ship that matched up perfectly w/ the bow wave since all the ships are different lengths. I'll see if it would be much of an impact to her speed on these things to paint the water effects afterwards. Its still a priority to me that these go fast, since she's got so much else on her plate right now, I don't want to put too many demands on her.

Yup I agree. You don't want to mess with the good thing you have going for you, lol!
