Dear All, OD #2 is very near completion, and after some consideration we would like to experiment with that old stalwart, a "letters page".
It is true that in this day and age of wikis, emails, forums, chat and... TWITTER - a letters page may seem more than a little antiquated.
However it does still have a couple of potential advantages:
- the greater importance people tend to attach to working up a letter encourages quality of thought and expression
- the inability for a reader to have the immediate gratification of a response makes for more "ponderation" of the subject matter
Therefore we invite (with due apologies for cross-posting) anyone who is interested to submit a letter for publication.
Please respect the following editorial rules:
a. Aim for a max. length of 300 words (no, it isn't much, so make it pithy!)
b. We reserve the right to publish or not - and to edit your letter. In the latter case we will check the final version with you before publication. Any letters published become part of the issue in which they are published.
c. Please DO try and make a constructive point - or raise an interesting question - with your letter.
d. Please DON'T try to provoke a flame war, or use bad or flippant language.
e. Please try not to gush... we all like DW, but with OD we are trying to bring it to a wider audience, so go easy on the treacle.
The address to send your letters to is: tasks AT draconismag DOT com
regards,
Cameron and the OD Team
