Hey all, to get everyone back in the online Vassal mood, I'm setting up a very quick and easy online tournament - purely to get people playing a game or two and enjoying the online scene again. This tournament will be carried out using the Vassal mod for A Call to Arms, as recently updated by katadder and JayRaider and originated by GeekyBiker.
If you're interested in signing up for this tournament please post below but also read the rest of this thread! If you have any comments on the format please post here/PM me so that we can look at the issues.
To play, there are a few prerequisites that you need to look after. Firstly you need to download Vassal, java and the Vassal A Call to Arms mod. Then follow the instructions or PM me (or JayRaider/katadder if you have a specific question about the mod) to ensure that you can run everything alright. Needless to say, you also need an internet connection to play the game in realtime (rather than by e-mail).
There will be spaces for a maximum of 8 players (first come first served, and I'll be playing too!) and the tournament uses 1 Fleet Allocation Point at Armageddon level for fleets as per the latest fleet lists and rules (up to and including the Armageddon supplement):
Please be advised that there are a few typos in various rules and you can find the clarifications on this forum, particularly in this thread.
Your fleets will be chosen in advance and sent in a PM to me before the tournament begins and cannot be altered after the tournament begins. I'll generate a random fixture list and it will be a straight knockout to keep things simple.
Missions will be randomly generated as follows:
1-2 Call to Arms
3-4 Space Superiority
5 Assasination*
6 Annihilation
All missions except Assassination will have randomly generated terrain and all missions will allow each player to keep up to 2 Raid points' worth of ships in hyperspace. Also all missions will calculate victory points based upon the mission being a Raid level game.
* Assassination mission has both players choosing an enemy ship of highest Priority Level as a target. VPs gained from attacking this ship are doubled (including capturing and fleeing) but unless the ship is destroyed or flees from the battlefield then the ship's opponent will lose the battle (in the event both target ships survive the game, Victory Points determine the winner as normal).
Right that sums up the rules set, if you're interested and want to sign yourself up then please post below and if you have any questions then please also post them below. If you've signed up then PM me your fleet choices and it will stay secret until the tournament begins (or until you post it yourself).
