Old crow minis

Mongoose
Anybody have any experience with these guys? Particularly in the US, as even if they are great minis if they never get here it is not very cool.

I am waiting for my first order from GZG and am interested in how they stack up against each other.

Thanks much for any help.

I have purchased from them myself. Their quality is good. It just takes 2 - 3 weeks because of customs and such to get to us. Make sure your total order is less than $200 if you order from outside the U.S. or you have to pay taxes on it when it comes into the U.S. I worked for UPS for 3 years and any package whose total value inside when it comes into the U.S. is more than $200 is assessed taxes.

If anyone is lookiing for decent Zhodani-ish 25mm minis, check out Denizen miniatures at http://www.denizenminiatures.co.uk/

Under their Sci Fi minis, the Ventauran vac suits are almost spitting images of Zho combat armor, down to the bifurcated helmet visors. I've bought some and they work extremely well with the old 25mm Imperial Marine minis by Grenadier.

A U.S. source for the Ventaurans is http://www.historicalminiatures.com/denizen.htm (where I got them).

Old Crow generally has a shipping time of 3 to 4 weeks, Jez has been both reliable and easy to work with in the past. And his product is generally pretty good in the production values sense. this is a couple orders a year over the last 5 or so years.

Jon at GZGs has a bloody worm-hole. If I place an order on monday it generally arrives here in California by friday. He has some of the best shipping and customer service in the industry.

Thanks all. i placed orders with GZG and OC this weekend. Spend most of last months overtime money already. Now I am dancing around waiting.

I like the Old Crow items I own. They are good quality and nice detail.I agree witht he others that the shipment is SLOW. But in the end you will be happy.

Now I also need to say I liked GZG stuff better and his newest line of 15mm figures are perfect for Traveller IMO. And Jon has neve taken more then a week to send me my stuff.

I wouldn't say they are particularly slow, really on par with a lot of other small companies in the UK.

GZG, a small company in the UK took a week. www.15mm.co.uk took a week. Peter Pig took a week and a half. Old Crow took more then a month. In my opinion that is SLOW vs. the others.

But to be clear, being slow should not stop them from being used and I would strongly recomend their Slammer line as well as their Gecko Scout vehicles. Also the 25mm Splinter makes a great 15mm Shuttle for those who may want shuch a beast.

I haven't ordered from 15mm.UK, good to know they respond quickly.

As for PeterPig, I was under the impression that Brookhurst was their sole distributer in the US, and as such all my orders have been from Brookhurst. (Hey, they are in your neighborhood, have you ever been in the shop?)

Well, compared to your list, well they are indeed slow, TableTop, when they where still in bussiness took 6 weeks, Several others have been in the 4 to 6 week range also.

Have you ever ordered from Irregular?

They are about an hour South of me. But I am lucky that my work takes me within a few miles of them a few times a year. Very nice place and worth visiting if you are in the area.
