Okay i can't wait any longer

Warhawk

Mongoose
I have been buying SSt for about a year and I have nice size MI force all still on sprue(well I did break down and paint up 5). I have been tring to find players in my area(which there are none) to try the game before I build to much so I will know what works best.

But today I got my newest shipment of stuff and I can't wait to paint it. But my problem is what weapons should I build my MI with? Ihave about 50+ mi and so far i have only make basic troopers but what squad weapons should I build to make full squads?

Thanks

I would build 2 to 3 squads of 8 with Sgts & cpls (give them more dramatic poses). Then build 3 each of the Helflamer and Trip-thud troopers plus two Javelin launchers. As you play the game you can experiment with different squad combinations. Also run out and pickup some M9 chicken hawks. Just one in a fire support squad will ruin your opponents day (at 19.95 they are a bargain).
Any way that's my 2¢.

Thanks I will start building them that way, I do have the exrta stuff like the chas, light infantry, chicken suits (no ape suits yet better grab one) But my problem is with the troopers not sure how I would build them the other stuff iHvae started painting

I'm working on a full power suit platoon with numbered squads, so each will have all the kit availble + doubles of usefull stuff like Javlins,

I am thinking of the same thing for my LAMI as well  might have to ask for some mongoose stuff for xmas :?

As far as your other options for an MI army. I would start a basic CAP platoon (2-3 squads). With a CHAS and a Chickenhawk. By making 3 of each special weapon type you can mix equipment options. Using a basic painting scheme you can get them on the table fast (dry brushing in camo colors and paint the face plates gold, then glue them on). IMHO CAP platoons are the best all around force in the game. Then add a second platoon of Pathfinders, LAMI, Exo-suits or Ape suits. What ever strikes your fancy. Later if you find that you like the Pathfinders, LAMI, Exo-suits or Ape suits better, you can always use your original CAP troopers as a supplemental force. After all since you have the main game box with 16 CAP troopers, you may as well use them. Two more boxes of CAP troopers and you have all you will ever need.

Good hunting!

Second that about CAP troopers being the most versatile. All the weapon options have their place - depends what role you want the squad to fulfil.

Triple Thuds give you a chance to take on some of the heavier stuff that may pop out of tunnels, as do flamers. Javelins give you that extra bit of reach and can fire nukes, and sniper rifles - rock - plasma bugs, chicken hawks, CHAS are all vulnerable to them, and you can even get lucky on tankers / M8s.

The humble frag grenade is also a useful addition, especially if you expect the squad to be up and close eg if triple thuds or flamers adorn the squad.

I personally tend not to go for talents, preferring to add a CAP or two.

Remember that it is rarely a good idea to just stand there and shoot, ready and jump and let 'em have it.
