Official scale

Banded Mongoose
What scale is the game officially written for (as far as ranges, movement and such)? I'm beginning to see a lot of confusion as to what scale people should buy. The cover of the rulebook seems to proclaim 28mm, yet an article in S&P praises 1/72, and demo games are being played in 15mm! I guess it's good that seems to be up to the players, but without a standard size, finding someone to play against gets way more difficult. I can easily imagine 3 or 4 people meeting up for a game, with 4 different scales of infantry. Giants vs. midgets, anyone? (excuse me, vertically challenged!)

Then maybe MGP shouldn't have written anything about scale on the frontpage.

IMO scale should depend on which is the most common around in your gaming group. If you have players that already have a big bunch of minis but they have different scales, than it is too late anyways. :D

We have removed the scale from the front of the rulebook for this very reasons.

WWII has always spread itself between different scales, bouncing between 20, 25, and 28mm.

In our experience, you should not have many problems (giants vs. midgets) with 20, 25mm and 1/72 scale models. 28mm is very well placed for players who wish to concentrate on detail with individual models.

From the playtesting experience I can assure you that there is NO difference as far as the game mechanics are concerned between the scales.
:)
Remember you are always measuring from the middle of every mini/ base (whatever) so the scale of the mini is just an aesthetic problem / issue. Aslong as all minis are seperately based all is fine.

BUT that was an issue in our games! Call it anal, but Tom and I even agreed on the bases we want to use on the armies in the book!
