Not wanting to flame bait but....

will the old plastics be still supported? or will i have to spray paint all my PPM? Also has there been any demo sort f program posted on the net so "other" people across the world can have a go, with the miniatures we already own?

Mongoose have stated that all existing models will continue to be sold.

I'm guessing you may eventually have to buy them direct from Mongoose, though, as many stockists may switch over and just stock the new prepainted versions.

well, all the old stuff.
My LGS (Swindon) only really stocks the older stuff, I think they have PAMI, Brain bug, Firefries, Ape suit, Chickenhawk suit and Vet MI, and the only books are the skinnie one and the MI one.
:( I just go to Wargames Workshop.

better than the current state, which is 'many stockists have stopped stocking SST completely' :)

I just wonder if they even consider carrying the new game come April. :?:

Ah, I am a bit out of the loop. Starship TRoopers is a good game with nice figures. Why have stores stopped stocking it?

If you think about it, it does make sense to stop or at least reduce the stock for now. The game is basically being re-released, and while the old minis can still be used, the new ones are pre-painted. From a store owner's point of view, why would you risk having a bunch of old stock sitting on the shelf because people only want the new pre-painted stuff?

It just wasn't selling well. With units like the TAC Fighter not coming out when it should have, plus the lack-luster skinnie sculpts (no offense, sculpting Mongeese), it made people gun-shy about it.

Right now, I don't think Game Parlor of Virginia will be stocking anything more till they get rid of their current inventory.

This was taking in March. It's grown slightly, but there's no real appreciable difference in the amount of stuff there.

OUCH!!!!!

It's such a shame! I REALLY like this game but there just doesn't seem to be enough support. I'm not a fan of pre-painted but I do hope it gives life to the game and it becomes a big success.

It's pics like this that just makes me wonder why on earth a store is going to even try to carry the new version of the game. :?:

I'll try to get a picture of Eagle and Empire's SST Shelve soon, and an updated Game Parlor shot as well....

But yeah, that's pretty much my reaction.

My FLGS has pretty much dumped about half the SST stuff on eBay. I think I am the only person supporting it.

Lackluster sculpts and abysmal QC have been the major hurdles with this game.

Even the ACTA stuff has slowed down a bit.

Definitely major factors as well.

Initially, people around here were also waiting for more races to become available. There seemed to be a brief surge when the Skinnies came out, but nothing massive. Hopefully with four races coming out at once plus some of the kinks ironed out of the rules things will change.

aye, the lack of shiny big vehicles did not help my persuading around here, especially with the delays,, i hope to see them asap now, vehicles are a major factor for army and game-appeal i've noticed;)

I remember I was on the fence about getting into this game. The one factor that pushed me over was pics of the dropship prototype. This generated some interest even amongst those who weren't all that interested in SST. Unfortunately this never seemed to materialize. In fact where are the Skyhooks???? :x

The other factor was that while I was sitting in my easy chair drugged up on painkillers and recover from a second hernia operation, I was watching the SST movie. Dina Meyer can be quite motivational.

When the Exo-Suits came out, well this started to catch the interest in alot of my fellow gamers who scoffed at the SST game, movie and animated series (yeah these were novel purists), to the point of asking for advise on starting SST with an Exo-Suit army. Then all the QC complaints came in and a number of us were burned with bad parts and long turn arounds for replacements. This really killed things to the point that I don't even think full frontal Dina Meyer nudity could fix.

The exos are really what put some hope back into all this for me, i bought a box of cougars, had one mismatched arm that i got a replament for in less than three days, (airmail to sweden)
however, the important bit is that preytty much everyone loves them, i know one guy that is a real novel purist and he was quickly convinced that, while lacking flamers these wre good enough to represent them

the times i've drooled over dina ,, erhm i mean the dropship of course,
i really wish they would have released it:/
