night combat

Hello ,
I have just came back from my unit ( 5th reserve battery , 12 artillery regiment ) , and we spend our whole week-end on the field. In the night of saturdayt to sunday , our section ( 12 men ) attack 6 or seven time a 35 mens strong section who were fortified around an old ammo strorage. None of us have any light amplification device , but we succefully destroy the ennemy troop without loose on our side.
So my question : how night combat is played in bf-evolution ? do land-warrior systeme help soldier in night combat ?

Land Warrior and FIST only say that they use computers and weapon-mounted cameras to make a mockery of cover. Nothing about NVGs. However the Abrams, and I expect the Chally as well, ignore smoke which denotes use of thermal imaging. However I've never seen a photo or video of an allied soldier in Iraq that doesn't have a NVG mount on his helmet and 10-15 years in the future night vision should be common place.

There won't be any official night vision rules, simply because one of two scenarios is likely;

1. Everyone has night vision, and so the odds are even.
2. Only one side does, in which case things get very ugly for one player.

Likely something for S&P.

ive been fortunate enough have a chance to play (yes play, i ran around and chucked rocks at sleeping people :P ) with the single NVG scopes that the ADF uses, anyone trying to fight at night without a NVG set up against someone that does is going to get smashed to bits, not matter who they are.

My night time rules are :

1. nobody with night vis : all in cover : target 6+

2. People with night vis : enemy are obscured : target 5+

3. Heat vision etc : all targets are 4+ ( like in the open )

If you wanted you could drop the level by one, for being within reaction range ( 10" ), and of course using flares are obscured, target 5+

Example

VC in treeline at night, about to attack usa firebase across open ground, at the moment all are in cover as well as night time, so both are a target 6+ to hit.
Then the vc rush across the open ground, even that they are in open ( target 4+ ) with night time its still "cover " 6+, when they are within 10", then it drops to 5+ ( option if you wish ) or keep it at 6+, so they need to close to get into CC and fight...

So now you can see why they would attack at night, as attacking across open ground in the daytime, is very bad...

Thats the rules i`m using at the mo, for special forces games etc.....
