Newbie questions-Warped Ones and Celtic Wives

Hey all!
I am new to Slaine (and Mongoose's rpgs in general) and some questions struck me as I was going through the main rule book:

1) Since Warped Ones are from a particular bloodline (of Beastlord/Human descent) does that mean that any children they sire/bear will become Warped Ones as well? Are there people of the bloodline who are humans but not Warped Ones?

2) I know that female warriors were not unheard of in Celtic/Nordic lands, but how much does that apply to the Slaine setting? I know women can be witches (who fight better than druids) and war-witches, but are they ever Tribal/Noble warriors or prestige classes such as Charioteer/Red Branch/Gaesatae?

3) Off-topic question: do any of the other sourcebooks have more information on El creatures? (more elves & angels than demons and half-deads).

That is it for now. Thanks for your time.

Without flicking through any of the source books...........

(1) At a guess, I think the Warped gene is recessive. ( It's less likely to occur throughout each generation descending.) It's not dominant. ( There's still chance that it would never occur even if both parents are Warped.) From what I have read of the comics. Slaine's son, Kai was never warped. He became a Druid.

(2) To quote some of the historical narratives printed in the Slaine comics surrounding the period just before Slaine became King of his tribe.

" Nearly all the Celts are terrifying from the sterness of their eyes, very quarrelsome and with great pride and insolence.... But a whole troop of foreigners could not withstand one if he called his wife to his assistance...
" She is usually very strong and with blue eyes...
especially when, swelling her neck, gnashing her teeth and brandishing her sallow arms.'

" ...She begins to strike blows mingled with kicks, as if they were so many missiles sent from the string of a catapult. "

Celtic Women.

And another...

On the battle edge, wives and children yelled encouragement over the din of blaring trumpets and screams of the dying...

(3) I know nothing more then what has been written about them already. I 'm hoping Mongoose produce a source book for El when the Runequest: Slaine comes out. Other wise, I know they are just fancy names for demons from the inner world. In the comic book they had this diagram of the Earth with two lines dividing into it quarters within. To quote from the comic again.....

There were four worlds inside the Earth... at right angles to our own, and thus known as 'L' or EL worlds.

The top left hand quadrant is dominated by the Dev-Els and Ang-Els.
The top right hand quadrant is dominated by the El-dar gods.
The bottom left hand quadrant is dominated EL-emental creatures like EL-ves and Goblins.
The bottom right hand quadrant is dominated by the Dead.

You can see where the EL word came from here. Just angels, demons, gods and underground dwelling demi-humans.

It also has this to say about Cythrons- ( Star Beings- What ever that means.)
Through the natural forces of light and arkness, a race of star beings- The Cythrons- had sought to control Earth.

They actualley exist in a place naturally called 'Cythraul' or 'Cythrawl'. This is supposed to be the Celtic name for 'Hell' and they are the bad guys. This place exists right in the centre of the four inner worlds overlapping them.

For more information on this subject. I would actually consult other Dungeon And Dragons' source material on the Inner and Outer Planes until Mongoose can come up with their own version of a El worlds source book. As it's of great interest to me also.

Any of the stuff from the 'Planescape' game ( Another variation of Dungeons & Dragons that was popular, before the D20 system was implemented.) may fill in the gaps of knowledge left out.

also time killer and tomb of terror are brilliant comic sources as is the books of invasion when slaine goes into el to find a haven for his people and brilliant answer to the question standing or should that be stoney

The wikipedia had some interesting things to say about 'ELs'. When I did a search for Cythraul on it.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Elfric_%28comics%29

Also containing a summary of Elfrics's misadventures and many demises care of Slaine.

According to this and the 'Time-Killer' saga. Cythrawl is 'Prehistoric Earth'.

So how can Cythraul still be existing within Iron Age Earth. Within the centre of the four other El worlds( Elswhere)?

Could this be a nod towards the old Jules Verne epic 'Journey to the Centre of the Earth' and movies like 'The Land the Time Forgot' where dinosaurs, man-eating plants, giant insects still exist. ( In Fantacy.)

This brings another question to mind. Did the Dinosaurs that exist in Slaine's time not die, but live on in secret areas or otherwise evolve into something more adapted to the cold weather or did the Drunes open up worm holes in time to bring them back. Sounds like that makes sence to me.

Right off the top of my head, it is said that Drunes forbid the eating of their flesh. Thats all I remember.

I'm not sure, but there may be references to this in some of the Slaine RPG source books.

you cannot eat time monsters under drune law stats are in the book but not sure about dinosaurs but has given me lots of lost world ideas thank you :D

it is belived in slaines world that eating a monsters body gives you the power of that monster ie great strenght if you eat a time-monsters heart same belief covers skulls of foes to posses the skull is to have that persons power

I don't know about you. Ever since I started watching 'The Flintstones' as a youngling I've had this craving for Bronto-burgers and extra large side s of ribs.

Yeah, I would try didnosaur for the meat. Imagine the size of the steaks.

Have you read Pat Mills other creation 'Flesh'. While it's not directly connected to Slaine ( I may be!!) It's about time-travelling cowboys doing exactly just that.

You can cut steak the size you want but if you eat dinosaur you risk loosing intelligence.
