New Profession alternatives

Not that I think they need new professions, but you can do what I do...

Give them 4 Basic skills in which they get +10% two that get +5. Two weapons skills at +10% +15% respectively. Give them a choice of two or three Advanced Skills. Then WALLAH - instant self made Professions...
 
Are you talking about making a background (ie barbarian, nomad) rather than a profession( hunter, shaman)?

Actually, I do it for both (Combo), though a little more free than the books state. My players hate going through books and books.

If they use it for just professions I drop 1 Basic Skills, either drop or limit the Advanced/Weapon Skills to one (not one of each).

I like trying new things and new ideas. Game mechanics are not changed just creation of characters. They still get the 100 pts.

Sure. I usually leave the cultures as it is stated in the main book. (ie barbarian, primitive, ect.)

But if someone has an idea for an alternate profession that is not listed, I just make that part up. (ie ranger, raider, ninja, ect.)

All professions have a total of 50 points that are divided up between advanced skills and basic skills. So you can customize them how you see fit. Then just think about what cultures would be appropriate to said profession.
 
Ahh, I see - that works also. Pretty similiar to what I do. I just excise more control over it..

Yeah, I'm just too lazy to make cutomized cultures and professions. :)
