It's been "under construction" for the longest time.
I wouldn't get my hopes up.
I just hope that Milius is NOT involved in any new movie.
There's plenty of chatter about this on conan.com

Just curious about why you Milius is not involved w/ Conan, I thought the general consensus was that he made Conan '82 into such a great film by his creeenplay/ writing/ etc...
I'm not a film buff, but I know that Milius generally does pretty good stuff, right?

I love the stuff Millius is doing on HBO's Rome. But, Millius had his chance to do a Conan movie - time to let another director take a swing of the broadsword.

I believe Oliver Stone re-wrote the screenplay so much that it was a vastly different story. The original draft was much closer to Howard's Conan, but Stone made it the movie we know. (And, admitably love.)

I think I learned this while watching the limited edition DVD with the comentarries. It is a must watch, Arnold's comentary is hillarious, "So ya, this is good part, see here I hit him and he falls down."

Absolutely correct on what MILIUS did for the ROME HBO series. Worth every penny in buying the DVD collection.


I cant wait for Season two.

I would love to incorporate and 'Stat' out a Titus Pullo character, eg: 6th level soldier (his legionary days) 4th level nomad (his legionary cavalry days) and a couple of levels of thief to show his city skills.

What a great Conan-esque type character.

I am absolutely crazy over that series.

word. ROME rocks. I really hope HBO finds the money for a second season. either that or take it to Hollywood and find a bigger budget for movies.


Ray Stevenson was magnificent as Titus. If not considered for the role of Conan in a future movie (he has the bawn, but I am not so shure the 'look'), I hope that ROME propells him into stardom in future Sword and Socery or historcial action movies.

Yes there is a second season.

When I watch it, I think of the "God in the bowl" by REH and its Roman-esque theme. Totally ancient Nemedia/ Aquilonia.
