Hey guys

I was just poking about on Amazon at lunch today and I found this neat little tidbit:

Blood of Orlanth: Revelation by Aaron Dembski-Bowden (Paperback - May 25, 2007)
Book One - Revelation There is a legend that few Gloranthans will ever know. It tells how during the Godswar, in the land which is now called Dragon Pass, Orlanth was almost slain by one of the vile Chaos Gods that rose from the Void and threatened to extinguish all life in the world. To the Orlanthi, this is a foul lie. Yet to a minor, lone cult of the barbarians, it is a terrible truth and a secret shame - a secret they guard forever. The God Learners have learned a shard of this hidden truth. Arch-sorcerers of the Alliance have mastered a ritual that can use the blood of the wounded Storm God to achieve their own unknowable ends, perhaps even rewriting history and altering the life of Orlanth himself. But the blood must come from this secret myth. Jrustelan agents make their way to Dragon Pass now, seeking to prise the secret legend from the Orlanthi that live there. Delecti the Inquirer, the traitorous sorcerer, is aware of his former brethren's machinations. He employs his own agents, Dragonspeakers and mercenaries allied to the Empire, to watch over the conquered Orlanthi of Dragon Pass and ensure the God Learners do not learn the full truth of this legend.

This scenario sounds quite wonderful, and judging from Aaron's stuff I'm reading in Magic of Glorantha right now it should be killer.

Hmm, searching on that also turned up Melnibone, also by Aaron according to Amazon.

Though Amazon was wrong about Bryan writing Soothsayers Lament, so we have to take these early Amazon listings with a grain of salt.

Amazon said:
Of all fantasy empires, the tradition-wrapped kingdom of Melnibone is surely among the best known. The capital of this slowly falling realm is the seat of Elric's empire, Imrryr - the Dreaming City - a place of slender, sky-reaching towers topped by banners that wave in the winds. Beneath Imrryr are the Dragon Caves, where the oath-bound reptilian allies of the Melniboneans slumber and await the call to another war. Mystical ley lines threaded across the land like the veins of the world offer magical power to those to would walk them, and scholar-mages learn of the cosmic balance between the principles of Law and Chaos that govern reality. All the while, from the spires of Imrryr, the albino emperor Elric holds the legendary blade Stormbringer in his hands, watching his world slowly die.

I seem to recall DBC said he was working on an Eternal Champion book (or was due to) but that it wasn't Elric.

I have to say - it's got me intrigued. It's got God Learners, EWFers, Delecti (Delecti, guys!!) and a real Heroquest-ey feel to it. All played out with the RQ rules.

It sounds like the sort of scenario I was waiting to see come out after we'd dealt with Pavis, Big Rubble, Borderlands etc.

And it's paperback (for all you thin harback-haters).

Blood of Orlanth. If that 3-part bitch isn't the high point of my 2007 schedule, I have no idea what will be. Even writing the three blurbs for it was awesome. Is it just Revelation that's up?

That changed a couple of months ago, Q. Now, as it happens, it is indeed Elric of Melnibone' that's next on my schedule. Not a bad way to start the New Year, really.

Woo! Nice one! You lucky bastard - anyone would think you're a really talented writer or something... ;)

Blood of Orlanth sounds bloody great too! 2007 is going to be a busy year for you.

Try to find a bloody laptop that doesn't fall apart after 20,000 words, eh?

As soon as I find one that lasts even half that, then we'll talk. Until that day, that day fated in the annals of destiny, we mortals shall struggle on as best we are able.

Yup. Just Revelation is up. Any chance you could tease us with the titles of the other two? That blurb sounds EXACTLY like I've always imagined a Gloranthan adventure should!

Judging by what I've read so far of MoG and that back cover copy, I'd say this senario series could be one of the best published Gloranthan adventures ever. :D

Primary MRQ Glorantha writer and now friggin Elric. All I have to say is you better be f***kin' good!

I may need to turn to crime to keep up.

First I'm like Lankhmar - cool, I'll have to check that out. Never read the books, but loved Theives World (Old Boxed set and Books).

Then it is like Hawkmoon, Awesome. I was pretty much raised on Moorcock as a teenager.

Now Elric. I mean, don't get me wrong, Hawkmoon is cool. Elric trumps him though (for me anyway). Doom and Gloom and Demon Swords, yeah.

Y'know, I was kinda bummed that RQ Hyborea seemed to be dropped, but now I'm kinda relieved.

I'm not the primary Glorantha writer, that that's an honour I'd not be ashamed of bearing. I think Gar and Bry have as many Glorantha books in their queues as I do next year. It's debatable as to who has the Biggies, though.

Revelation.

Insurrection.

Devastation.

He said 'tease'.

Not 'F***king Torment'. Sounds very cool.

Revealations are cool. So are Insurrections (well, some of them anyway).

Devastation Rocks (at least in games - less so in real life).

Sounds promising. Hopefully all beerworthy.

there goes another 30 bucks for me.

They will have to work hard to top Stormbringer 5, but man, just having elric stuff readily available and with new stuff for it...

Looks like we will have to mount a guard on DBC to ensure no harm befalls him, as it looks like he has got all the goodies that I (at least) have been waiting for: a truly epic sounding RQ scenario and then the Chaotic Albino himself.
All I have to do now is find someone to run the Elric campaign - 'cos I surely want to play in that world while GM'ing in Glorantha.

Now this sounds like a scenario I have to get my hands on! Colour me hooked.
