Needing some input on a new project

Cosmic Mongoose
Okay so sometimes I set down and start tinkering...this one came to life while watching a documentary on the f-104....which is sort of obvious I imagine.

now i have the model pretty well finalized but I am sort of at a loss what to do with it.

I was thinking of using it for a 100 ton light starship along the lines of the Serpent class, but more of a personal transport/interstellar private jet...However, it has the looks of a Pinnace type small craft. sort of stymied on which route to take on this one.

The airframe is specialised for high speed atmospheric flight, not manoeuvrability or ease of landing, so you need a specific use case to motivate the design.

Perhaps the design would be appropriate for a short range, high speed passenger craft? I assume a spacecraft would leave the atmosphere for long range, high speed travel.

Looks nice. A couple of questions. The cockpit looks appropriate for a 1 or 2 person craft, but not a 100 tonner.

The wings would not be needed for a starship or grav capable craft, so what is the intended use their? How about making them more stubby to reflect that they aren't there for lift, just maybe as a control surface, or even just looks?

Your description as a personal transport/interstellar private jet has me thinking for the nobles especially the younger nobles wanting flash and speed as they star hop. It is meant to look fast and flashy. The wings (aerofins) mean they don't kid around coming into a planetary atmosphere either. The canopy in the bridge could be for a great view as well as a huge holodisplay information system and overlay HUD. Small displays could do something similar but these people want to go big (conspicuous consumption and display of wealth). Think a rich man's jet and adjust for interstellar travel. Find old pictures of the Bunny jet. Yachts are for old people.

I had the same thought. If the cockpit looking element was shrunk down then the body to cockpit ratio would make it look more like a 100 ton craft rather than the heavy fighter that it looks like right now.

But it does look nice though. :D

I adjusted the canopy a bit, may be a bit large still yet but I want to keep some of the "fighter" styling. It would definitely be built for high-speed flight. the wings are there for control and tight atmospheric maneuvers using aerodynamic surfaces. I gave it wings about proportional to a F-104 starfighter in relation to the body. which I reshaped from a simple pointed cylinder.

I think it looks better with the smaller canopy. Now a deck plan and a nice paint job.

coming soon, along with stats, and other juicy tidbits..... I need to work up the actual dimensions and decide how to lay it out internally. And, now that I have wrangled my beloved GF into being my staff editor/proofreader I might not be making so many of those goofs that slip through my grammar/speil check.
