Nationals?

We have been thinking recently of contacting Mongoose and some of the other LGS about organising some kind of "nationals".
E.g. Each store runs its own tournament with 4 winners moving on to the National finals, perhaps at Mongoose Towers? This would give you the opportunity to truly claim the crown of UK Champion!
Any other Gamestore folks out there, what do you think?
B5 fans? Would you be into this idea?

which is ok if you have a store near you or near enough. also how many LGS sell ACTA?

Probably not as many as Mongoose would like! Co-ordinated events like this could help change that though. Most IGS will run any game if there is a demand, enough demand and they'll stock as much as they can sell.
Given the feedback from the suppliers, there must be a large number of IGS stocking ACTA....
Hmm.. Matt or Alex, perhaps a map of some kind on the forum highlighting where your nearest IGS is so that you can get a game? Maybe something similar with clubs?

well i use my local club, and buy my stuff from a guy who runs an internet store anyway. or game down mongoose when the oppurtunity presents itself

I don't see any reason why the Mongoose Towers couldn't be used as a 1st round venue?!

Reaverman, Burger and I were discussing this idea a while ago - I'm sure they'd be well up for it...we're the only ACTA gamers we know that are international!

EDIT: Well obviously apart from all the cons the Mongoose people themselves go to in the US...

EDIT2: Our local game store might be interested, I'll ask if I can do a demo at some point (we've bought a ton of ACTA stuff from him and if we can convince him that others will do the same...)

I'd be in and supported the idea before when it was proposed.

If necessary, I'd even host a "Midlands" heat so long as we could get at least six people! (I know this wouldn't quite tie into the shop idea but I could speak to the local Travelling Man if this is necessary and see what could be done...)

the thing is, the amount of people who go for a tourney at mongoose os about all you get anyway nationals or whatever so is there a point? it just limits the people heading down to mongoose on the day cos you only get 1 or 2 from each area instead of the 3 or 4.

Why not hold them at Gen Con. They could do one for the European & one for the North American. Then maybe the winners would get flown to Mongoose Towers for the final throw down to see who reigns supreme.

I've decided I'm not going to be going to Gen Cons based on the fact they cost too much. Good luck with the tourney circuit though!
