Narn ready for tommorow's tournament ... ish

Mongoose
Finally! My cold has deserted me and I have managed to get 99% of the Narn finished for tommorow's MoW tournament. My own fault for leaving it so late, but at least I can relax tonight

There are also a couple of Ka'Toc's to go in there too and a few more Frazi, but mostly done.

Note to self: "If you are going to do a fleet in a hurry, don't do narn duh!"

Look forward to seeing some of you in uhhh... about 15 hours time :?

Regards
Carl

Very nice. How did you do the fighters? Are they the small plastic bases Mongoose supplies? I'm guessing you then cut off the stem and inserted a pin to attach to the base? Very nice - I'll have to try that...

Thanks for the comments guys, much appreciated. :)

Pretty much exactly that. I used slightly larger bases than the small Mongoose ones, basically the small GW base as it is an identical diameter match to the widest part of the hexagonal base provided. The hex bases look very nice, but I just dont like mixing hex and round bases within the same fleet.
As you say, I removed each of the stems and then pinned each individualy onto the base at varying heights and positions. It gives the fighters a more natural less perfect look. It's not a particularly new trick, I have been doing that for years with Battlefleet Gothic, just thought I would carry over the habit to ACTA as I always like the effect.

I may regret it though once I start on all the Poseidon's Starfurys *uck!*

Bet your gald we talked you into it now

Hehe, indeed. But I may be crying into my beer this time tommorow once my fleet and its noob cap'n get their collective butts pummelled from one end of the table to the other
I may be wishing I had stuck to SST after all by then

Cya tommorow folks
Carl

That is the best paint job I have seen on the Narn yet. I love your work!

you will have to let us know how you go in the tournament :D

Nice effect with the green on the T'Loth wings. What did you use for it?
The green was a mix of dark green and a jade green which produces the dark base. I then added in hawk turquoise to this jade mix for the highlights which are just very light vertical and horizontal stripes to give some shape and create the impression of panels. Basically its the same mix more or less you can see on the G'Karith in front of it.
I was quite pleased with the way the green worked and am currently doing the Bin'Tak like this with some detailing like the T'Loth. Effectively the exact reverse, so primarily green like the G'Karith with some red/black hatching detail on certain panels. Hopefully that will help tie the fleet together look wise.

I'll post some proper pictures onto the site once they are done.

Cheers
Carl :)
