Narn Player needs Help

Ok, I've been reading the forums for over a year and have owned the revised rules and sfos for a long time now. Just finally starting to play though.

Here is the problem, my opponant plays Centauri, I play Narn, and for getting a feel for the rules we have played a couple of two point raid games.

Does anyone have any decent recommendations for a fleet list?

Last time I fielded two G'Kareth and two Ka'Tanns and got my butt handed to me by a Dargan and two Darkners... granted my opponant crippled one of my Ka'Tanns in the first round and won initiative every round but one, but I was hammered..

This time I am thinking of two Ka'Tocs because at least the mag gun is F arc instead of boresite and a Rongoth destroyer for the sheer punishment it can take and the amount of attack dice it can dish when the game gets close and personal.

Or maybe dump the Ka'Tocs for two Thentus for their burst beams. Im not sure. Narn are pretty weak for a major race, especially against the Centauri and all their F arc Beam badness... :evil:

Any help would be appreciated...
 
well then, 2 point raid is not the best for you to start with, the Centauri do have better ships at almost every level. the narn strenght lies in swarms of skirmish ships, which you can't really achieve in 2 raid points.

but some things to say
1) do NOT take a hull 4 ship in such a small battle, against the evil pointy haired buggers, they will wipe the floor with it.
2) Forward arc is your friend, or, um, it might be a misprint, but the new T'rakk has Super maneuvreability meaning you can ALWAYS get that boresight on target!
3) Play bigger battles, in 2 point raid, i would see the centauri beating almost anyone regularly!
 
A tough battle to effectiveky use the Narn - two point raid. Going to hard, don't use hull 4 ships they won't long - especially against those beams. High Hulls and speed are essential - I would consider a Rongoth or personal fav a Rothan along with two T'Rakk's. The Rongoth has lots of dice which should work against the lower hull Centauri hulls and all round firepower where as the Rothan has the nasty DD hvy plasma - Darkners by by once in range and can easily hurt the Dargan too. The T'Rakks seconday weapons are a bit sucky but would still be capable of hurting the darkners and the fact they are SM would allow you to line up those boresights and easily out manevour those centauri ships - if you can get behind them..then happy days!! :) What you want to do is play a scenario with a 24" set up distance then the Rongoth?rothan can get in to combat first turn with an all head full and the T'Rakks could prove to be especially nasty here :D
