Narn Advice

Mongoose
I'm putting together a "house fleet" of Narn for my gaming group. I have the two fleet boxes, lots of Gorith fighters (shop threw them in) and a BinTak.

I think I need an additional T'Loth, 2 more K'Tocs and a G'Karith. I'll also go mercenary on another T'Loth for 2 T'Rakks.

Any suggestions?

another Rongoth?

The T'Loth isn't so great. Sure it has lots of crew and damage but it doesn't pack the firepower you need. Granted that the Rongoth isn't all that hot either. It sucks to be a Narn Raid ship. More Ka'Tocs are needed. The Ka'Toc and Ka'Tan are the greatest Narn ships(I own six myself and I know a lot of people here have mentioned being able to field 5 point raid fleets with all Ka'Tocs although most use eight or nine Ka'Tocs with a Sho'kar or two and maybe G'Karith tossed in). Hell, the whole Narn skirmish lineup is great although a few(such as the G'Karith) are somewhat specialized for what they'll do well. Personally I think the weakest skirmish ship for the Narn is the T'Rakk and that's still a solid skirmish ship, it's just that the Narn already have so many good skirmish vessels that the poor T'Rakk doesn't really have a place in their skirmish lineup except perhaps on blockade run(as the runner).

I would actually recommend one of the er0-inforcements box sets.
You get a Rongoth, which you can use as a Rothan - actually had reasonable weaponry and is a tough hull 6 ship. 2 x Thentus - much under-rated ship and are actually very good against hull 6 ships and work well with te Var'Nic in the box set as flanking ships. The Sho'kar scouts are essentials and the G'kariths also provide low priority ships with e-mines. It is a great value box set too and well worth the money.

The poor old Thentus is actually an excelent ship, much ignored due to the newer sparkly Ka'Tioc, however it packs the same beam dice, although with a little less punch, and whilst slower than the Ka'Toc can actually turn round, with 2 45 turns. an excelent flanking ship, as it often gets overlooked by enemies not thinking it dangerous.
The Rothan as Morg stated is actually a pretty solid ship, and as long as it has some flanking support can make quite an impression in a fight.
The T'Loth is a glorified damage sink, however you will notice that most people will not all stop with that many troops around. The Narn can make a good fleet with pretty much any combination of Skirmish ships at their disposal, then supplement it with bruisers such as the G'Quan, hunters such as the Var'Nic, or even the daddy of all ships, the Bin TaK

sell it on ebay and get Vorlons..te he...
Actually Narn were my first fleet...something about 4 G'Quan's

don't think I ever fielded that many G'Quans, I like to throw in a mag cruiser just to surprise people :-)

I have to agree with Hiffano, the Thentus is great. While the Ka'tocs are flying around the battlefield trying to get make a come about roll, the Thentus is in amongst ripping the enemy a new one with its beams.
