Mythic Resonance - experience in play?

All,

I've so far shied away from using mythic resonance, alongside its related effects of mythic insight and myth enforced behaviour.

I'd be interested to hear how other people have managed with these systems? Have they used them well for Glorantha and Elric, does the system differ in those settings, any other settings where it has or ?

Personally, I see a few challenges:

1) Would myths need to be detailed (to some degree) to allow mythic insight? That could be a lot of work!

2) How, as a GM or player, do you keep track of all the different behaviours associated with a myth (or several myths for a powerful diety or non-theistic order)? It seems likely you'd need to review the players character sheets and note specific points in challenges in play when the mythic behaviour may become relevant.

3) I don't like the idea of taking control away from players just because a myth has a strong resonance. Maybe a penalty to their stated action, loss of Pact if relevant, loss of social influence (or other campaign world outcomes)?

Overall, I'd be tempted to adapt Pendragon's traits system, with certain myths or cults encouraging certain behaviours but selected from a styalised by limited range of options. This may not be relevant as the issue in Pendragon is how to differentiate the personality of each knight, not an issue in most RQ games.

I don't use "myths" nor do I even know what they are or how they are used in MRQ2. All of the descritions on myths are too vague and I don't fool with them.

Our Humakti has been subject to them a couple of times but it has never forced a behavior the player didn't want. The rest of the party on the other hand...
