Certainly looks that way...

I'm sure it's just me, but those ships don't look finished. Maybe it's the camera work... :?

What do you mean? I guess you could always add a few specks of black to highlight certain features, but I think they look good the way they are. They are small models remember

I had to look up ‘plinth’  Those bases are not plinths they are from Renaissance Inks (Wooden, Magnetic Bottom, Thick to be exact)

http://www.renaissanceink.net/index.php?body=support/wood.html

They’re made from particle board and sheet magnets. I bought them at the same used gaming auction where I bought the ships. You see even though I didn’t own any of these ships; I have played with them in games, I noticed that sometimes an older or younger person would pick up the ships by the hull or superstructure and ruin some poor devil’s paintjob, masts and, Guns, etc. so I am testing bases these are on R.I. bases, my Americans are mounted on wooden scales that are thinner and made of hardwood, I’m going to try GW bases for my IJN ships.

I got 5 GHQ French and Italian blisters for a dollar the only thing was that the Algerie blister had been broken into so it was missing its turrets and, the Italian cruiser Montecuccoli was missing its hull still, for a buck…. O’course it didn’t help that I broke the cranes on a couple of the sprues either. :~

Anyway, Lord David, these are my first minis in this scale what can you point out to help me improve my skills? You said that they look unfinished but these are staying ‘as is’ I have bought some Japanese and some American ships and any advice will be applied to those fleets.

Thanks Guys!

What I mean is, there's no detail work on them. The guns, hull, turrets, superstructure, etc, are all the same shade of grey. Only the large cruiser looks like it's finished.

No offence intended.

Now that I really lOOk at them I see what you mean. Well it's a good thing that I didn't wrench my arm out of socket patting myself on the back. I'll get to them when I get done with their opposition.

Thanks! :)

I quite like the French WW2 fleet (or at least the fleet up until mid-1940) - soem interesting designs and some interesting actions. We've played Mers El KEbir afew times and it makes for a fun campaign game (apart form the one in which the British player mucked up his sailing time and arrived at MeK to find that the French had already sailed back to Toulon!).

I'm considering ordering more French just for the novelty of the fleet. The stats aren't bad and frankly we aren't re-enacting the whole war just playing with toys really.

Does anyone own any ships by Panzerschiffe? They are considerably less expensive than GHQ. I love GHQ but I'm trying to save some scratch for BF:Evo
