My first Ships (Apollo, EA Crusade)

Hello !

I've just completed basing the first ACTA ship i painted and i wanted to show them to you all for some advice an (i hope) constructive criticism.

Here it goes !

I think the shot form above shows off the paint scheme the best - the first one makes it look as light as early EA ships!

That aside, it's a very nice paint job, did you do the greys with drybrushing?

Yeah, the photos are too light, it's way darker.

I primed him black, then:

Drybrush of GW Shadow grey, drybrush of codex grey and i lined in fortress grey. The windows (i took them as windows, if they are gun racks, no problem) were made in blood red then a spot of fiery orange for each.

Wasn't too hard to paint, and i'm attacking the rest of my fleet this night, i'll try to post other photos as i finish ships.

Edit: on a side note, i did varnish it with gloss varnish. I think i should go for mate and i think it's the varnish that made it lighter than it is. You can see the reflection on the third picture, forward part of the ship.

Very nice! Try drybrushing everything except details. For example very fine drybrushing will replace highlitning and give better look . Just use not thinned paint and before starting with model wipe paint with something until it lies no trace on paper at all. You can use washing - black ink + PVA (little ) + water to
give more shading - just make it after first grey (darkest ) is fully dry ! Wash is dry slowly then paint.
