My first game

Tonight my FedCom friends and I played our first acta:sf . It was the classic match up: heavy cruiser CA vs the D7 battlecruiser, (me).

It took a little longer than I thought because only I had read the rules, in all it went smoothly.

We started about 36" from each other and slowly worked our way toward each other. At one point we was head to head with all guns blazing. But he had poor rolls with his photons and only hit with one. While I did much better with my disruptors.

Next I moved past him and he choose to move straight ahead to reload his photons. But with my superior truing I outflanked him so he never got his photons in fire arc again for the rest of the game. And with that I just kept shooting until he was no more, even with my crappy rolls( disruptors roll 6 to hit and 1 for attack table= no damage :x .

Over all the game was balanced. A bit more rolling for stuff than I am used to but whatever. We can't wait to play again using multiple ships.

Please check my next post for my questions and thoughts on my first game of acta:sf

I played my second game Monday. It was actually my third time experiencing ACTA:SF with my second experience I was the moderator to a couple people wanting to learn the game.

First time I player Fed Heavy Cruiser to a Klingon D7 for a first time learning experience. I gained respect for the agility of the D7! I had some seriously bad rolls to his rolls from God and blew up though he was also a mess and would have either be majorly crippled or blown as we were 4 inches apart but the Stricken roll was an "8". So close!

The latest game was my opponent with the Fed Heavy Cruiser he had faced in that other game I mentioned. I decided to try the Tholian Heavy Cruiser. He was not too aggressive and spent his Special Actions! on Boost Energy To Shields! and trying to keep his tail away from me. I darted left, dove in very close then did my best to stay on his flanks chewing him with phasers and disruptors. He angled to get maximum numbers of phasers on me. I had several good leaky shield hits and was slowly chewing away his shields but his phasers finally tore down my shields. It was going to be interesting if I could survive his phaser barrages as I prepared to finally take his shields down and had the luxury of disruptors to hopefully gut him first.

Then the game store operator reminded us it was closing time!!

Oh, several people watched us playing with interest. As I was leaving I noticed a Romulan squadron box was gone. The clerk said it was indeed sold.

My first game was a four player with each of us controlling 2 ships. I thoroughly enjoyed it although I'd not played anything like it before. My second game was a 7 vs 5 ship (1000pt) engagement and it was light years ahead of the first game! Really great fun with some intense dice rolling. hope you enjoy your next games as much. :)

My first game lasted 2 minutes. 2 * 500 pt fleets line up. My klingons got into range 24, fired disrupters, rolled plenty of 6s for leaks, picked up those dice and they all re-rolled 6s for all crits, picked up the dice and rerolled all 3s for all delithium chamber damage. We called that game there!

We then restarted that with me re-rolling all of that attack as the start if our second game, after quite a few turns the klingons finally beat the feds, but it was very close. I was raining crits on the Feds but their constant shield boosting kept them in the game and my much more fragile ships were popping quickly (despite the feds total inability to land any criticals)

Definately enjoyable and looking forward to playing some more games next week.
