My EA Fleet, Pictures

First off,

Thanks to everyone who's helped me construct my fleet and learn to play it.

Here's a picture of what I have thus far. To be painted: 2 Omegas, 1 Saggitarius, 3 Marathons (whenever I get them in), and a Nike (which will serve as my centerpiece).

can you get a closeup of a couple of ships, the colour scheme looks interesting.

Interesting take on the EA. How about some close-ups?

No problem. I'm going to be taking more photographs tonight as I've gotten a bit of the shine off of the models (applied a coat of matt varnish).

You could also try taking pictures in daylight. This will reduce sheen caused by the flash although you'd have to turn the flash off...and for this you'd need a tripod...hm...gets kind of complex...

Anyway they look great!

Cool! thats a lot of blue! thery sure won't get mixed up at a tournament!

Looking foreward to the closeups!

Ok, here are the closeups as requested. My apologies to anyone with a slow connection.

I went with the mostly blue scheme primarily because it was different. I wanted to preserve the "dark" theme of the Crusade Era without using the standard black scheme. I also considered/tested dark red and dark green, but this one stuck with me.

I know the arrows on the ship bases are an eyesore, but considering the majority of my fleet isn't glued onto the stems, it makes keeping track of ship headings much, much easier when figures get bumped due to mass dice rolling or a misplaced beer bottle :D

I'll be honest... when I saw the fleet pic... I was aprehensive about the blue paint scheme. However, up close, seeing the detail, I am quite amazed by it. It adds flair and a new look to the same old gray/brown/black hulls that we usually see.

My only criticizm... can you add more detail to the Hyperions? All the other ships look great with the flashes of silver and gray... and I think it would REALLY add to the hyperions if you put in some silver or white stripes.

Aside from that ONE thing... the rest of the fleet looks great, especially the Worlock and Omegas. Great job.

Hmm, good point. Though I'm not the strongest painter when it comes to freehanded stripes. What do you think would be in order?

1. A single racing stripe down the middle of the hull.
2. Dual, smaller stripes down the middle of the hull.
3. Graffitti (i.e. "Your ass is mine." "Suck on my laser cannon." "You just thought I was obsolete, bitch.")
4. Something else entirely.

Oh, and to explain number 3. My theory is that in the Crusade Era, Hyperions are either handed over to washed-out captains due for retirement or young hotshots who can make the most of its jump point and heavy lasers via executing daring surgical raids against the enemy.

Obviously said hotshots would want everyone to _know_ just how badass they are (or think they are).

As long as you can still see the "tiles" and hull plating, you can just follow those lines... otherwise... as silly as this sounds... try tape. Use it to line up a nice stripe, paint between pieces and then pull them off.

Something like this:

*Note: Not mine. You can thank Cypher226 for this gem.

Though the idea has merit... if you can't paint stripes... you may want to hold off on this one  .

Of course  .

That's really odd, my models never had tiles on them like that. They must have been bad casts.

See, I cheat when I write on my models. Just use an insanely fine tipped sharpie or architect's pen and...poof, perfect writing.

I'll work on some stripes tomorrow, though. I think the tape idea will work nicely.

The later batches of Hyperions do seem to lack some of the hull detailing.

However if you place white stripes like the blue ones on Abraxas's example that will give you a connection to original show colour-scheme but also keep your own distinct feel.

Nice work anyhow.

excelent, a tad "shiny" but I suspect this is Camera flash, the Hyperions do need the extra, and as has been said, the later ones seemed to loose the hull detailing, maybe a new cast that wasn't as good? I'd go with the grafitti idea, sounds cool, and their are examples of it through Human warfare history, so get to it! :-)

Id suggest silver stripes in the same pattern as the normal hyp blue ones, would look great and fit in with the rest of your fleet (also maybe some more details picked out in silver too :D).

Overall very nice work :)

just noticed though you seem to be missing a piece on your warlock, the sort of little fins and antena bit that normally goes on the underside of the very front nosecone bit?

Yeah, that piece and I never got along. I just didn't think the Warlock looked as menacing with that little antenna thing. Also notice my Hermes' don't have the little engine flaps on them either, mostly because I can't figure any way in hell of making them stay on.

I used balls of clay to fit the Hermes' engine vanes.

I really like the paint scheme in the closeups, the thick black lines really help give it definition

I think it is all very nice work. And for gods sake don't be limited by the show for paint schemes or we just have masses of the same ships everywhere.

Ok, here is a pic of the hyperion with the stripes added.

What do you all think? Should I have done a different color? I know it needs a little cleanup and revarnishing so it matches the overall texture, but I wanted some opinions first.
