Most broken ships of all time

All this talk of broken ships is making me feel nostalgic. Since me and tris have played since the orginal box set was released, I ve seen some interesting ships come and go. So what do people think the most broken ship over all the editions? Here is my list of who I think could be up for nomination.

Nova Deadnought (orignal rule book) - good old hull 6
Maximus (orignal rule book) - lots of guns
Thunderbolts (orignal rule book) - now i remember why they droped precise weapons from most fighters, honerable mention to the Nial which was just as bad
Sagittarius (Armageddon) - quite alot of bang for its buck, quite hard to boot
Whitestar (SFOS) - 3+ dodge, oh how i miss you
And finally the Troligan - err, seems a little good!

Cheers

remember broken doesn't just mean hideously overpowered, it can be something hideously underpowered two, especially in compaison to it's same fleet buddies!

Well I've only been playing post-SFOS so here is my top 6, in order of broken-ness:

1) Armageddon Sagittarius
2) New Troligan
3) Tournament Shadow Hunter (hull 6 at Battle level)
4) SFOS Prefect
5) SFOS Tertius
6) SFOS White Star

But underpowered ships don't "break" the game. They just reduce fleet diversity by encouraging people to pick the better ships. Overpowered ships are much worse because they break the game.

yes, but his question was which ships are most broken, not which ships break the game!

and for me it's which ship is broken, so can be crap as well as good.

I will in no particular order say
Shadow Hunter, Arm Saggi, Portafais (come on, it's a monster!), new Troligan, and the crappy dilgar ship that is so pointless i forget it's name!
I'd be tempted to say the Dag'Kar in 1st release as well!

Porfatis is only broken when taken against fleets with weak to nonexistent fighters of their own. Since its only scarily effective against certain races, I'd argue its not broken

forgot about the tournament list shadow hunter..definatly up there.

For there time my vote would go to the orginal fighters in the orginal rule book, they where insame, you didnt need ships, best fleets just had fighters or ships with fighters (like the old nova), also anti fighter guns didnt really exist at the time, and the old fighter combat rules where completly different.

Discounting the orginal rule book (to be honest it had only a small fraction of ships now avialable in it) then my vote would go to the tourni shadow hunter, but not by much.

Well, I saw them rip the Minbari apart, I wouldn't say the minbari had weak fighters... not enough for a patrol point for sure, but not weak

Why didn't the Minbari shoot their Fusion Cannons at them at range? They have a dodge 6 for cryin' out loud! There is no reason for the Porfatis to ever get to close range against the Minbari. You have 18 inch ranged ap weapons, some of which are Twin Linked!

Ahhh Ben, good memories brought back :)

1. Armageddon Sagittarius (Tournament Pack version would be 2nd if you count it separately)
2. Tournament Pack Shadow Hunter
3. 1st Edition Nova
4. 1st Edition Thunderbolt
5. S&P Troligan
6. 1st Edition Nial
7. 1st Edition Maximus
8. SFoS Prefect
9. SFoS White Star
10. SFoS Tertius

They're only twin linked minibeams on two ships in the entire fleet! They're also only AP, and for most ships they're the minbari main guns... and you're wasting them on fighters.

Anyways...

Worst ships in my play experience (whether too good or too bad):

Vorlon Transport
Old Troligan. New Troligan.
Sharlin Variants.
Shantavi!
Torotha

Other than the Torotha and Troligan, I can't tell whether you think those ships are too good or too bad :)

I'm sure there are many more better and worse than these...

For my worst list (I in no way consider them broken as like Burger, they don't break the game) there are so many but at present they'd be:

1. Modified Freighter
2. Hyperion Command Cruiser
3. White Star Fighter
4. Kotha wing
5. Guardhawk
6. Darkhawk
7. Nial wing
8. Flyer wing
9. Kutai
10. Haven

If they are killing your ships - how can killing them be time wasted?

Because of those big Urik'hals over there, with those banks of torpedoes... and your only guns have had to be fired (in excessive amounts) at those little (ridiculously tough) fighters.
On average, 6AD of minibeams (the usual maximum for any given Minbo ship in any given arc) will kill one flight of Portafis, if you're lucky and it doesn't make dodges. That's the entire armament of a Raid ship in one arc, dedicated to killing a single flight in a turn.

um...no...

1e those are AP mini beams...takes 3 to get a hit....which will kill him 5 times out of 6. If he's close he doesn't even get that to pray for. (and if its the twin linked variety it takes one less)

2e those are mini-beams....takes 2 to get a hit....which will kill him 5 out of 6 times...

It's a tough little bastard, but lets not get too excited. It's also speed eight, not a real issue for Minbari to dodge around these guys. And that's assuming no fighter cover of your own.

umm... no...
1e they are AP so against hull 6 they need a 5.

um.., no...
2e those are mini-beams, they hit on 4+ no matter what the enemy hull is.
